The Dallas Cowboys plan to release veteran receiver Terry Glenn, bringing to an end a lengthy squabble regarding whether Glenn would agree to take a drastically reduced payment in the event that his bad knee would have resulted in his placement on injured reserve.
Owner Jerry Jones claims that the move isn’t the result of Glenn’s refusal to accept a lower salary if he can’t play.
“That turned out not to be an issue,” Jones said. ”At the end of the day it had more to do with where we are right now . . . all that might have impacted how we give our young players a chance in how we evaluate that position.”
Glenn was due to earn a base salary of $1.74 million. Jones wanted Glenn to take only $500,000 if the knee were to implode.
Immediate speculation likely will center on Glenn signing with the Dolphins, given that Miami V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells drafted Glenn to the Patriots in 1996, and brought Glenn to the Cowboys in 2003.
Glenn spent five seasons with the Cowboys, but played only one game in 2007 before his knee prevented him from any further action.

Florio…
Glenn injured the knee before the season and rehabbed it all year then played in Dallas’ last game and in the playoff game. You wrote it completely different from how it happened.
Also, Parcells brought Glenn to Dallas in 2003, not 1993.
Also, Dallas just signed Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins.

Supposedly there is a rumor floating around in Dallas that the Cowpokes are trying to trade for Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin… Let’s hope it doesn’t happen…

Jerry Jones is lying. He’s trying to avoid paying an injury settlement, should Glenn try to latch on with another team and fail the physical.

Wow, drafted in 1996 and then brought to DAL in 1993. How is that possible? J/K

Wait, so Parcells brough Glenn to the Cowboys three years before he was drafted?
This is shocking given Big Tuna’s aversion to airplane travel; the fact that he owns and apparently operates a specially modified DeLorean just floors me.

Interesting, it seems Parcells has some kind of time travelling machine.

I’m sure it’s been a long day…but he came to Dallas in 2003 and his knee was hurt all year til the last game, not …”before his knee prevented him from any further action. I just want your site/stories to be factually correct, even though they are minor errors.

Looks like J.J. is lying through his teeth again, which is nothing unusual. Just a month or two ago he was saying how much he thought Glenn would contribute this year, and how happy they would be to have him back in the lineup. Nothing has changed since then except the contest of wills over the split contract that Jerry wanted Glenn to sign.
J.J. once again appears to be cutting off his nose to spite his face, as the Cowboys are definitely a weaker team without Glenn playing opposite Owens. Although winning on the field is high on his list, it would appear that it is not absolutely the most important thing to Jones. Looks like his ego tops that list.

I’m sure the girl fans believe that. Which, once again, proves cowgirl fans are the dumbest fans in the NFL.

I guess you never considered the fact that that knee just might be shot, huh? The Cowboys have been telling Glenn that he needs microfracture surgery for a year now and their position has not changed. Also I don’t know where you’ve been but the Cowboys went 13-3 pretty much without Glenn last season. He did manage 4 or 5 plays at the end of the season after rehabbing all year.
Slow Joe, there will be no injury settlement because Glenn has played since he injured the knee.

Nice strawman, Skew. I guess that’s all you got. Word is that Glenn relented and decided to accept the split salary, but Jones had already decided that it was best for the team to let him go. Still a chance that he may be back, if he’s not picked up off the wire. Kinda doubtful though. That knee isn’t gonna get any better without microfracture surgery.

Hey guys, how about firing some brain synapses?
The Cowboys are a weaker team without Terry Glenn?
Hold on a second, let me check something.
(flip flip)
Why, YES! I have it right here!
Last year the Dallas Cowboys finished 13-3 (team record) and had the most successful year in their entire franchise history throwing the football.
Quick! Somebody remind me…………how often was Terry Glenn on the field for all of that?
Anyone?
Anyone?
HELLO?????????!!
BUELLER?
