It was reported earlier today that the New York Jets have received permission to talk directly with Packers quarterback Brett Favre regarding a trade.
FOX’s Jay Glazer reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have also received such permission.
Prior reports indicated only that the Bucs were interested in a trade, not that the Bucs were allowed to talk to the veteran quarterback.
So Favre has full permission to speak with both teams, and both teams have permission to speak with Favre. Presumably, the calls won’t be made on a Packers-issued cell phone.

“Brett always said it wasn’t about the records, but coming back in this capacity makes one think otherwise. “
That makes absolutely no sense considering Brett has already broken the records.

He better not want to wear jersey #19, because that’s Ike Hilliard’s.

I think that mrcmos has it correctly. The best option is the Buccaneers is Favre’s best bet. Chucky likes a veteran QB and he has a flexible mind toward his offensive system. He could make it work.
There’s a defense there to work with with Monte Kiffen at the helm. They got a heck of a field goal kicker. Favre would have a chance to make a run…

“I mean you guys were one game away from going last year”
You misspelled “one rag-armed QB away”. Favre’s lost it. How many times did a guy get open only to have to slow up and wait for another one of Favre’s retarded ducks to get to him last year?

It might not be out of the realm of possibility that Favre comes to Tampa straight up for Garcia. Favre has a cap heavy $12mil a season contract while Garcia has a very cap friendly deal with one year left on it. The Packers need a veteran backup for Aaron Rodgers with experience in the WCO while the Bucs want somebody to give them that Super Bowl mojo. Garcia has a lot of experience in the WCO, has played in some colder weather than Lambeau (several seasons in the CFL), him coming to the Packers would seem like a win for both sides.

Do you have what it takes to take an NFL offense and bring it to the top of the leader boards? In YOUbeQB.com’s spin on fantasy football, you become the offensive coordinator of your favorite team where you design a PlayBook that will kick major ass and battle it out against other “hot shots” by going head to head with your friends in group play, or you can stand alone against the world in single player. Either way, its up to you to get your PlayBook up to standards so you can reign supreme! Report to Training Camp now at http://www.youbeqb.com/training_camp to get your PlayBook design skills up to snuff!
We’ll see you on the field!

40for60, you never cease to amaze me with your retarded comments. Makes the Packers look bad and Favre look good? Keep in mind that Favre retired and said he didn’t have what it took to give 100% any more. He’s always spoke from the heart, so now we should believe that he wasn’t? Throw in that he called in April and said he wanted to play and the Packers made arrangements to fly a private plane to him to make the announcement and then he calls the next day and says sorry, I’m sticking to my original decision to retire.
Enough is enough….especially when you throw in the fact that he had have time for the past 4 years after the season to decide if he wanted to play anymore. I don’t think he has the desire to give 100% and it’s quite possible that he will not play at the same level that he did last year.

To everyone that says the Packers have the best chance of going to the Superbowl if they were to keep Favre, and that its ridiculous they wouldn’t want to keep him and go this year…Look at the games the Packers lost last year:
The first Chicago game, Favre gave up two costly interceptions. The Cowboys game, Favre absolutely stunk against the top of the NFC and then Rodgers came in and actually got the Packers into a game that Favre at just about taken them out of. The second Bears game, Favre threw two more costly interceptions and couldn’t handle the bad weather. Come the playoffs, Ryan Grant won the first game for the Pack, and then Favre threw a costly interception to lose the game in the playoffs again (third time I think that’s happened?). Rodgers is ready to take over, Favre is gonna bomb where ever he is.
Come the time the Bucs play the Packers people will stop sending cheese to Thompson and realize he made the right decision after Favre throws up several interceptions to the the defense Thompson built to help Favre.

Billknapp says:
“What sounds better? Jett Favre or Brett *uccaneer? ”
Even sober, I couldn’t come up with anything funnier than that! As a Pats fan though, I guess I have to go with Brett *uccaneer. No, not THAT kind of asterisk!
