Eagles running back Brian Westbrook wants a new contract, and he says he considered a holdout. In the end, however, he opted to report for the start of Eagles training camp, which commences with a 7:00 p.m. team meeting on Thursday night.
He says that he wanted to give his new agent, Todd France, a chance to work out a new deal with the team. Westbrook also suggested that he might leave camp at some point if a deal isn’t done.
The veteran running back, despite being 29 years of age, supposedly wants $30 million over the next three years.
So do we, Brian. And our chances of actually getting it are precisely the same as yours.

Operating with the assumption that this is 5’s last year - there should be some room for the next 3 -
The Burger King (and Andy Reids mouthpiece) was on Sports Final in Philly claiming that the Eagles maxed out their offer - and they very well may have, but that is on his current deal -
He is a special case - give him the money - LT got 30 at 24, Bwest is 29 - give him 25 over 3 (ring a bell - TO), and keep him happy -
For those other crybabies who took the millions early, suck it up -
Although you really have to consider whether it is smart to do so for the Eagles considering that everyone they do it to ends up unhappy -
Good talent eval… or cheap in the pockets…????
I don’t see any other teams doing this, and thus you don’t hear about the $ issues with them as frequestly as you do with the birds.

LOL Florio. So True. It’s almost impossible to get that kind of money at that age after the whole Shaun Alexander nightmare.

It would have been a better story had he gone right up to the entrance of training camp and took a knee.

Hey everybody,
I heard Howard Eskin on TV Sunday trying to explain how B-West was at his “max”, and I don’t know for sure but it sounded like a couple of pounds of bull crap to me.
I mean, it didn’t make sense to me: “a player max”? I never heard of that rule before, and I have been following pro football closely since 1974.
I think that the Eagles can pay it if they choose to, and if it fits under the cap. I dunno, but I heard that a couple of times now and it sounds strange to me…
F2B
PS… Mr. Mike, you sounded real good on WIP this morning and you had Angelo Cataldi and the Gang crackin’ up. The whole studio crew seemed to be highly entertained by your segment…

he did say the 30 mil was used as an example not necessarily what he wants. his logic is if LT was given 25 and the next guy out performs LT than where does the next contract go, 26, 28, 30?

I normally agree with the Eagles with regards to contract negotiations, but they need to stop playin’ and pay this man as much as they possibly can without being over the cap. I don’t care if they have 2 pennies left over. Westbrook is worth atleast 9 wins by himself as was T.O. I know the Eagles brass is being cautious about paying a 29 year old RB big money, but Westbrook isn’t Earl Cambell. He’s catching screen passes and running off tackle and could easily put these numbers up for another 3-4 years. They’re quick to throw money at a free agent (Kearse, Samuel), but don’t take care of their own. I don’t get it.

Westbrook denies saying he is demanding $30 million. He said to reporters, other agents are taking his words out of context because they were angry he didnt choose their services.

F2B…Are you a stockholder in WIP? For real, Cataldi kisses Florio’s ass, cause Eskin doesn’t like him, simple as that, and by my name, trust me I can’t stand the Burger King. And Rhea Hughes, is the most overpaidnon-entity in the history of sports talk radio. If Cataldi farts she laughs….
