Though Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin won’t be holding out or demanding a trade, the veteran wideout has made it clear that, once he’s eligible for free agency, he’s gone.
In fact, Boldin has ordered agent Drew Rosenhaus not to negotiate with the team.
“After last year, I was promised a deal would get done before this season,” Boldin said. “But the season is here and obviously that hasn’t happened. I don’t want a deal. People may think I’m being funny, or just saying that to say that. But I’m just tired of it. I’m washing my hands of the whole situation.”
Boldin is signed through 2010. As that date approaches, our guess is that the Cardinals will get plenty of offers for a trade.
Complicating matters is that the ridiculous rookie contract that the Cardinals gave to Larry Fitzgerald required the team to replace it with a four-year, $40 million deal. Fitzgerald isn’t a noticeably better player than Boldin, but the team can’t afford to tie up $18 million to $20 million per year on two receivers.
Though Boldin says that Fitzgerald’s deal has nothing to do with Boldin’s current stance, we don’t buy it.

I can’t stand how every topic about a WR possibly coming available has to involve the Eagles. The Eagles are not going to get Boldin. How hard is this to figure out? The Eagles are going to have to give more money to Westbrook, Andrews, and I’m sure someone else will be pissed about their contract once they realize how vastly underpaid they are. Andrews making $900k next year is an absolute joke.
Also Eagle fans need to understand that noone wants Lito, if they did he would have been gone by now. His whole contract situation isn’t attractive at all to other teams. Lito would require a new contract if traded and no one wants to do that for him.

louiedogg.. reggie brown + kevin curtis = (maybe) Patrick Crayton? You are certifiably insane. Seriously, what asylum did you just escape from? Enjoy another 1st rd. playoff exit w/ retard romo behind center. 2 years ago it was Romo’s fumbled snap. Out goes Parcells cause he couldn’t take it any more… dealing w/ a bunch of losers. And last year… Cowboys earn the top seed in the NFC and Romo is too busy chasing Jessica Simpson’s bergina down in Mexico instead of preparing for the Giants. I am really going to enjoy watching the Eagles dominate the NFC this year. Everyone is underestimating them and I have no doubt they have all the pieces they need on offense and defense to win the SuperBowl. Barring a lot of major injuries they will do it. Suck it Cowboys!

LouieDogg213: I’ve got this sixth sense whereby I can smell fraud Cowboys fans out like a fart in the car. I bet you live somewhere in the Philadelphia area but pretend like you’re from the Big D(ump) for your football team. Do yourself and everyone around you a huge favor -move about 1,300 miles to the southwest where you belong, loser.

Someone please explain to me how the Eagles will dominate the NFC? These NFC teams are better than them… (in no particular order)
1) Cowboys
2) Giants
3) Vikings
4) Seahawks
5) Packers
6) Saints
7) Bucs
So all the Eagles have to do is to somehow leap frog all of those teams, hope McNabb plays a full season for the first time in 3 years, and hope no one gets hurt.
Unfortunatly I live in Philadelphia and have to listen to their fans constantly and even most people around here don’t think they are going to make the playoffs. They think maybe they will contend for a wild card spot because their schedule is a joke but other than that most people think they are anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6. Oh wait McNabb thinks that they are the team to beat this season and “a lot of people are picking the Eagles to win the NFC” I’m not sure what sites he’s reading but I haven’t found a single person picking them to win the NFC.

This has to be one of the most toothless threats of all time. Threatening to play three more years before leaving? By that time the Cards will either have fulfilled their promise to finally break into the playoffs, or the team will be “blowed” up as yet another Bidwill failure.

JBrudero:
Not sure if you paid attention last year, but the Eagles, in hobbled form, lost to the Packers on 2 muffed kicks, beat the Cowboys once, beat the Vikings, beat the Saints, and only lost to the Seahawks cuz of an AJ Feeley interception in the end zone with < 10 seconds left.
Granted, that was last year.

The thing is, Larry Fitzgerald re-did his deal so that they wouldn’t be paying him 32 million in base salaries over the next two years. I imagine this freed up cap room. Why not negotiate with one of the best wide receivers in the game? The guy is a team captain. We never see him on the police blotter. Why not keep the nucleus together? Oh wait…that’s the Cardinals.
As much as I want to see it, there’s no way that the Cards trade him to the division foe 49ers. We can dream…

To my new friend LouieDogg213: Not quite sure what language you’re speaking or what illegal drug(s) you’re obviously on, but something tells me that you’re probably not a member of high society (or Mensa, for that matter). As for your critique of the east coast - very interesting. Because when I lived in LA, I kinda remember something called smog, and wildfire smoke, and mudslide filth, and winos, and earthquake damage. But I’m sure you’ve never experienced any of that up in your Beverly Hills mansion - or from being in a drug-induced stupor most of your life. You certainly make a fine member of Cowboy Nation. Don’t stop pretending, bro!
