Though Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin won’t be holding out or demanding a trade, the veteran wideout has made it clear that, once he’s eligible for free agency, he’s gone.
In fact, Boldin has ordered agent Drew Rosenhaus not to negotiate with the team.
“After last year, I was promised a deal would get done before this season,” Boldin said. “But the season is here and obviously that hasn’t happened. I don’t want a deal. People may think I’m being funny, or just saying that to say that. But I’m just tired of it. I’m washing my hands of the whole situation.”
Boldin is signed through 2010. As that date approaches, our guess is that the Cardinals will get plenty of offers for a trade.
Complicating matters is that the ridiculous rookie contract that the Cardinals gave to Larry Fitzgerald required the team to replace it with a four-year, $40 million deal. Fitzgerald isn’t a noticeably better player than Boldin, but the team can’t afford to tie up $18 million to $20 million per year on two receivers.
Though Boldin says that Fitzgerald’s deal has nothing to do with Boldin’s current stance, we don’t buy it.

Well, would Boldin have been happier if they extended him a $5-6 million a season, and then granted Fitz his $40 million deal?
I doubt it.

I agree completely, with what they paid Fitz, it will be impossible to keep Boldin.
I have a sneaky suspicion that Boldin and Fitz aren’t the best of friends, otherwise the two (and their agents) would have realized that they would both need to play for slightly less than they are worth in order to remain together and possibly build a championship receiving corp.
Toss in the Cardinal’s history of failure, and you can’t expect the two to coexist financially.

Fade 2 Black HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah right! Boldin’will be sportin’ the almighty silver and blue. Lurie is too much of cheapskate to make that move. We all know Mr’ Jones knows how to take care of his ‘Boys. You should stop mentally masturbating to Boldin’ and prepare to say bye-bye to Westbrook. Lurie should never have let it get this far with Westbrook….typical She-Girls move or more accurately non-move…GO COWBOYS!!!!

the cardinals will stiff him by letting him play out his contract since the #’s are very manageable & then let him leave via free agency after they franchise him an additional year, by that point it’ll be 2012 & he’ll probably have lost a step & not have the value he has today, oh well!!!

i left something out…shame on him agreeing to the contract extension he signed in 2005, these players are ridiculous anymore with their salary demands…they should put their money where their mouths are & sign a contract for the minimum salary loaded w/incentives & go year to year…they greedily accept these signing bonuses & then treat it like last year’s salary

LouieDogg213…. you have no idea what you are talking about. Of course, that should be expected since you are in fact a Cowboy fan. The Eagles will rule and dominate the NFC this year. Have fun rooting for all your turds. Pac-Man, Tank, TO…. please! I’d much rather have Jeff Lurie as an owner of my favorite franchise than Jerry Jones. The Westbrook deal will get done. And the Eagles will finally break through and claim that long awaited Super Bowl Championship. Boldin to the Cowboys? Yeah, right… Chris Henry is more like it. Mark my words. They’ll cut Terry Glenn and sign another turd in Chris Henry. Typical Cowboys…

“Paging Mike Nolan…”
It would be awesome to solve the 49ers receiver woes with one fell swoop. Boldin a solid #1 and Bruce/Battle a decent complement. Davis left with no excuse but to perform and Gore possibly back to form with a decent OC. Then the million dollar question is Alex Smith, and like I have stated previously I think Smith is better than given credit for given the different offenses…it would be a nice experiment to finally seal the deal whether the niners can be good or bust. If the latter, then fire the lot of them because they would have no excuse at the specialty positions. I think this could be a difference maker if the O-line can step up. (Take pity, I just want some excitement back)
nnagi08: Don’t you think the cards would rather explore getting those 2 #1s while they maybe still can rather than milk the diminising services of a poor morale player?
P.S. I htink the niners would be a better team with Boldin than Favre, not that it’s being considered.

the eagles are becoming highly overrated this offseason.
unless Desean Jackson is the second coming, they Eagles offense still needs playmakers. asante samuel is a good add,but the eagles problem wasn’t CB it was at SS where they don’t have anyone worth mentioning.
the best the eagles will do is 10-6,and knowing McNabbs injury history he’ll get hurt sooner or later and the Kevin Kolb era will start.
and your pro-bowl guard is skipping training camp as well.

footballrules … tsk, tak pal I do know what I speak of. Yeah your team had a very solid 2nd half last year but your run of “domination” is near the end. You couldn’t cut it under the bright lights of the big time and those lights and opportunities are fading fast. Seriously Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis? Pss..they add up to maybe Patrick Crayton. Bringin’ up the Cowboys “Bad Boys”?? You got anything new to come with? It wasn’t our coach that raised a couple scum bag hoodrat kids or our owner who let arguably the best WR of his generation go ’cause he was being frugal…yeah buddy keep your team and your cheapo owner and enjoy the upcoming stink at the Linc..GO COWBOYS…

Yea right…he’s leaving…Ahahahahahahahaha!!!!
Like he’ll remember this in 3 years…
Cards will eventually give him some bonus money like Chicago did with Brian. So get your greedy hands out of our pockets…
There is NO WAY the Cards trade Boldin…He’s a leader on and off the field. He should get more cash, but the Cards don’t have it right now. We currently have around 5 mill left on the cap which will be saved in case of injuries.
Philly - can’t believe you guys are still riding this pipe dream
Dallas - I hate ya’ll…always have…always will
Tampa - yea right…so McClown can throw him the ball…
He’ll be resigned within the next two years…so ya’ll can relax.

Gotta love the cowgirl fans. JJ is creating an all-TURD team. Meanwhile he is still trying to prove that it was all about him and not about Jimmy Johnson. He is an ego maniacal jackass whose only counterpart in the league as stupid as he is the Danny (that’s Mr. Snyder to you.) The best part about him owning the Cowgirls is that their likelihood of winning it all sucks as long as he thinks he knows more about football than his paid professionals. Meanwhile he needs to make sure he doesn’t smile too much. His face will crack. His plastic surgeon made him too tight.

Jerry Jones will run out of Oil Money after he signs Chris Henry and Loverman Choke Artist QB Tony Romo (hahahahahaha..). Then the Eagles will sign Boldin. But that’s next year. Let’s talk about this year.
Coach “Bums Boy” Phillips and Romeo Romo will team up to deliver another Big Let Down in Big D. They will go 10-6 with 0-1 in the playoffs. Sorry Doggie… No Supe for You!!! See you in the regular season!!!
