As it turns out, Eagles guard Shawn Andrews isn’t present for practice. And his absence isn’t excused.
So even though we reported that he might not be present, we’re apparently idiots for suggesting that the absence might be related to his contract.
Andrews’ agent Rich Moran says that the absence is unrelated to Andrews’ contract, and since agents never lie the Philadelphia Daily News is accepting Moran’s position as gospel.
The team’s position is that Andrews isn’t present for personal reasons, but the team opted not to excuse the absence.
So what in the hell is it? Turkey binge? Star Trek convention? Goldfish attack?
Whatever it is, it had better be better than the $15,000-plus in fines per day that Andrews will potentially lose until he shows.
Then there’s the chance that it really is a holdout due to Andrews’ displeasure with his contract, and that the team asked Moran to keep that on the down low so that the virus doesn’t spread to guys like Brian Westbrook or other players who signed long-term deals at a time when the overall market was a lot lower.
But, wait. We forgot. Agents never lie. Teams don’t, either.

Yeah agents and teams never lie just like you’re never wrong. But oh wait what team is McNabb playing for? Because last year from what I read here every day he’d be playing for just about any team OTHER than the Eagles. I guess this works both ways.

Good call gibsonplyer. You hate this site so much and they are wrong so often that you’re on here reading the updates and posting every day. It really does work both ways, lol.

Florio must be a closet die-hard Cowboy fan trying to stir up trouble. Just admit you F’d up! Just like Tom M. and yesterdays “Eagles call Packers About Favre” B.S. There is clearly an anti-Eagles spin going on lately on here and it’s absolutely ridiculous. I don’t see any other rational explanation. Just admit your love for the Cowboys already!

Im an eagles fan, i think andrews is in the wrong, but why is it so hard to believe that the agent is lying?? Obviously, if it were family issues they would excuse him. He’s being a puzzy about his contract. I dont know why everyone is out to slam on florio. If you want a puff piece or some pro eagles spin goto philadelphiaeagles.com! You can go there and ONLY say and talk about good things/pro eagles things! Im banned for life from the message boards because of some over zealous administrator. This site blows my own teams site away with the stories and rumors that i would say are 75-85 % accurate. Get off Florios sack people, the only mistake he made recently was allowing Tom M to post that rediculous title switching piece about “eagles call packers…”I hope that guy got taken out to the toolshed for that, thats irrisponsible journalism to blatantly swap the title of the stories to cause a stir!

You seriously think that Florio is anti-Eagles? If anything he is pro Eagles. He was on WIP this morning for God’s sake. Every little thing that happens in Eagle land is reported on this site; it’s annoying.
BTW Andrews contract is ridiculous. He is severely underpaid. It seems like every year the Eagles have so much drama when they head into camp. How about they shut up and try to win something for once?
So this year it’s Lito, Westbrook, and Andrews that all have a problem with their deals they signed earlier in their career. I wonder if the Eagles way of doing business is in jeopardy. Other players are going to realize what happens when they sign these type of deals and they won’t sign them. Just wait until Trent Cole holds out becuase he is ridiculously underpaid. You can mark my words that if Trent Cole continues to play as good as he has (at least for the first half of the past two years; he usually slows down big time the second half) and makes another Pro Bowl that he will be in this same situation.

know what this is really all about? it’s a classic case of be careful of what you wish for because you may actually get it.
so the players fought, and fought and fought for a bigger slice of the pie. and they won. they got more revenue out of the owners and they got the salary cap expanded.
so then eric steinbach and leonard davis really cashed in and said thank you, this is great.
and the rest of the players suddenly realized that they can’t reap what they fought for until their contracts are up.
d’oh.
so, they’re both jealous and mad of the steinbachs and davis of the league, and are now determined to not only have their cake but eat it too; they not only wanted a bigger salary cap, but now want out of their contracts too.
so for every andrews, lito, and westbrook there is, i only say you can’t fight for something, win that fight, then turn around and say well this sucks.
go cry in your cadillac.
