I think McNabb's ego has officially replaced Fred Taylor's groin as the most fragile body part in the NFL.

Enough on Favre trade talks. Until Favre lets the Commish know he wants to come back, its all a moot point. Teams arent going to make offers until he does do that. Favre got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and I hope the viqueens burn for it...Favre STAY IN MISSISSIPPI!!!!!!!!!! (I'm a diehard Packer fan and love Favre to death. Enough is enough tho, time to move on)

Andy Reid publicly reponded to this article today. Packers did indeed call and he has no interest whatsover in Brett Favre. He also mentions that he think they're QB situation is one of the best in the league with McNabb, Kolb, and Feeley.

"It stinks when the headlines don’t say what we want them to…"

not sure what that's suppose to mean, but its not about the headlines saying what we want them to...the headline was fine...it was the indication in the article that it was philadelphia that sent the feeler to green bay

but it goes right in line with what the media does to create interest...has anyone noticed the number of posts to philadelphia stories?..compared to the others...so creating a backwards story stirs up interest from eagles fans and those that do not like the eagles...which creates more hits to the website, which creates more money from advertising.

other then that...this story has no legs...makes no sense in any way...but the man did his job and created something out of nothing

wow, some of yall sound completeley retarded. The eagles are making a run this year, no way do they throw the year out the window. McNabb aint going anywhere, stop trying to stir up nonsense. I think this link should be TAKEN DOWN! Florio needs to get back to making the rounds because i have a hard time believing flipping a stories headline makes for a good news site. Its pure gar-bajjjj, just like the no name who penned it......probably a dallas fan. Well tommy, better steer clear of philly!

Maybe Peyton's knee problems are worse than originally thought and Favre ends up with the Colts? That would be a hoot and a half. Maybe even a hoot and three-quarters.

Brett Favre isn't going to be a mentor for anybody, because if that was the case, he would still be in Green Bay (starter or otherwise). So enough of the 'dump McNabb and let Favre mentor Kolb' talk, as it's not going to happen.

I see him going to one of the Bay's, and it appears more and more likely by the day that a return to Green Bay is not in the cards. He also wouldn't need to play 'mentor' on Tampa, as the two young guys (not counting Simms) on the roster (McCown and Josh Johnson) are being developed by Gruden.

I think you guys know I like Favre, but not that much to bring him to the Philly situation!!! He is a one year shot for any team that picks him up, maybe two.

Redskins, Panthers, Buccaneers, RAIDERS, Bears, Vikings, but not the Eagles. McNabb is secure for a while, despite the hype.

I have great respect, but Philly is not the situation as best as I can tell...

TT will trade Favre to a team like Philly for much less than he would trade Favre anywhere else. Why? Because he wants Favre to STAY RETIRED. The Iggles have an established starter. I suppose they could always trade McNabb to Minnesota. Childress is McNabb's former "OC."
The bottom line is TT doesn't want Favre to play, which is why this trade would make very much sense.

How bout this scenario: Favre to Philly, then McNabb to Minnesota,I figure that makes more sense with Childress' connection to Mcnabb.

I have read some of the dumbest statements ever on this thread.

Hawkside said "Farve is Perfect." I wanted to laugh at this but I couldn't. It was just too stupid of a comment. Sure, I'll call the guy who has thrown the most INT's in the history of the NFL perfect. Was he a great QB once? Sure. "Perfect" that's just hilarity at its best.

CountSnail: I agree with some of your comments, especially about the one who wrote this article, He who shall not be named. I guess maybe it's b/c no one knows who the hell he is. OK, anyway, what was the comment about the "only reason the Eagles would do this would be to sell tickets" Are you crazy, the Eagles have a waiting list of 20 some years and they are already sold out for the season. What tickets do you want them to sell??

This rumor better be cleared up if the headline was written wrong. This was poor taste to get readers if it was intentional. But what the hell, is Terry Bradshaw still dead?

@sdffa11

I wasn't defending Favre...far from it..can't stand the guy. I was simply commenting on where he would fit in and why Phily makes some sense to a degree.

And I'm sorry,McNabb is garbage. Whines,is always hurt and pretty much a total non-factor in post-season play save for the one year TO saved his a--.

I'll agree that from 1999 through 2005 Favre was pretty average and sometimes downright bad and did nothing to lift GB in the PO's. In fact..one could argue that it was because of Favre that GB lost most of those playoff games but lets be real...what has McNabb done? Favre is 1-1 in Super Bowls and holds every record of any note...McNabb is 0-1 and isn't on the field long enough to set any records....????

I'm not gonna defend Favre because that isn't the issue but I can't see how anyone can put McNabb on any pedestals either.

Kolb is your future. Now,do you want another 2 years of McNabb 10-6 ball or maybe go on a wild ride with Favre? At least with Favre you're gonna get 16 games from him.

Favre may not take you to a Super Bowl but we all know McNabb sure as h-ll aint gonna take you to one.

You people are all acting as if it was the Eagles who called the Pack.

But it was the other way around. The Eagles aren't "interested" in Favre. The Packers are desperate to unload him, and called the Eagles to gauge their interest.

No need to get carried away...

"wondering exactly what he has to do to be respected"?

um, win something? Play a full season? Stop being a whiner?

do you need more reasons? come on! act like you pay attention to the NFL.

well when the Commish orders you to "accelerate and resolve" the situation with BF, why not call your rivals and start stirring up a little league-sanctioned controversy of your own, you know, is BF better than your current starting QB. Let get some other fans upset at their teams with some BF related talk. The Packers GM should now start calling Dallas, Giants, Patriots, Chargers, and ask them if they're interested in trading for BF to be their starting QB. This is starting to get really, really funny.

No way Favre comes to Carolina. Richardson and Hurney are working to get both Peppers and Gross resigned, and Favre's salary would make that impossible. Additionally, Jake is the real deal - because otherwise they would have done something in the draft.

naw hs, i'll take delhomme (healthy) over favre.

i think balto could do fine with favre this year as could buffalo. of course favre might have to study harder to learn more teams in the afc but...

i dont think philly would be seriously interested except to maybe drive the price up for snyder.

the vikings need favre but they wont get him. t-jack is the answer to the question which qb will stub his toe in minnehaha badly next after chauncey pullpecker...

The idea that teh Eagles would trade for Favre is absurd. In Reid's time the only veteran they banked it all on was T.O., and he was younger and probably better at his position than Favre is (now).

In related news, I always laugh when people start bashing McNabb. There are probably three or four better quarterbacks in the NFL, arguably: Manning, Brady, Palmer, and .... The only thing McNabb truly has going against him is his propensity for injuries. Look at the three quarterbacks I mentioned. They all have marquee receivers, and two of them have at two marquee receivers. McNabb currently has the best group of receivers he's ever had, and it's freakin' Curtis, Brown, Avant, and Jackson. At one point, he was throwing to Thrash, Pinkston, and Freddie Mitchell. Maybe Brady could pull off a miracle with those receivers, but McNabb has done damn well for what he's had.

He's a great quarterback. He's not the best in the NFL, but he's still great. He's definitely in the top five for active QBs. To me, you have to be a pretty dumb central office to never put a truly great cast around him. T.O. is agreat and Westbrook is great, but that's it... bottom line.

its idiotic comments from morons like hawkside blitz that 99% of fans are stupid. favre is better than mcnabb...hahaha. not in this decade he isnt. the last thing we need is an over the hill interception prone QB. i love how the media brainwashes these idiots. if favre throws an INT, hes a gunslinger playing his type of game, if mcnabb throws an INT, its because he didnt see the defender. PLEASE!!! i am so sick of people defending brett favre. he had one good year in the past 5 years and that was last year and even then, he threw an INT that lost them the NFC championship. if mcnabb was playing in the NFC championship and he threw that INT, we would never hear the end of it. favre is not a gunslinger, HE IS AN INTERCEPTION PRONE QB who had a great career but he is definitely on the downslide.

Huh?

I'm an Eagles fan, and to think the Eagles are interested in Favre baffles me. Why on earth would you trade anything for a guy who's only going to play one more season, and you have a QB who will probably end up on the market in March? They're supposedly going to go with Kevin Kolb if McNabb is injured again this year, so trading for Favre would only hurt McNabb's trade value.

Secondly, you have Lito Sheppard and Brian Westbrook wanting more $$$. Why are you going to strain your salary cap more by paying Favre hefty ransom?

Thirdly, how the hell do you think McNabb and Kolb are going to like possibly getting bumped down a spot on the depth chart?

Nothing in this story adds up. If the Eagles do want Favre, the only reason behind it would be to sell more tickets.

Kolb is still a year away. McNabb is probably the single most overrated player of the last 10 years. He's a whiner and always hurt.
Favre is perfect. Favre has 1-2 years left at most, exactly the amount of time Kolb needs. I don't think the Eagles have enough to be a Super Bowl team but with Favre you are guaranteed a playoff spot which I can't say is the case with McNabb. Dump McNabb, roll with Favre then hand the ball to Kolb in 2010.

I think Carolina is the perfect spot for Favre. He could push them to that 13-3 level and its a perfect spot in relation to his home and all of that. Delhomme is nothing. He's Trent Dilfer at best. Just a guy. Tampa Bay would be a decent choice. Atlanta makes sense for a 'coming full circle' sort of deal but that team won't win more than 7 games even with Favre.

Phily is kind of a wild card but only if they would dump McNabb w/o hesitation.

I think Minnesota is the pick for drama and shock value but Minny is better off sticking with the young guy...TJack needs reps and sitting for 2 years behind Favre would stunt his development. Of course w/ Favre for 2 years Minnesota would be a good bet to at least get to a Super Bowl. Jackson is no bet to do anything.

Most of the AFC teams don't make sense...the ones that need help are all either 3 years away from winning or have young developmental QB's in place and would be better just letting them play.

If you are Mimai do you want to go 2-14 and get another top 3 pick for your run in 2010 or get Favre and go 5-11?

This makes perfect sense. They lost faith in McNabb after the Super Bowl they lost. That's why they drafted Kolb. So take a shot with Favre this year and next then move on to a very ready Kolb in 2010 or 2011. any draft pick compensation given for Favre can be recouped by trading McNabb to the Bears.

Hey Big Tom,

Reid was Favre's QB Coach (and I believe it was just after Mooch Mariucci was). They seem to have a close relationship 10 years later.

Reid is a loyalty guy (if I understand him). He would put a feeler out there as a supportive gesture to Favre. Stand in line, you know, indicate some interest.

The Eagles are obviously set at QB with veteran McNabb and newbie Kevin Kolb as well. The "courtesy" inquiry says more about Coach Reid's loyalty than his plans for the Eagles, if I know my home town team.

Any more than that would be a shock to Donovan, the whole team and the whole town! But the news might set off a little buzz here in town... LOL

It will never happen. It makes no sense. The Eagles brass is got to be chomping at the bit to make the switch to Kolb, which could happen the next time McNabb is injured and having Favre around would only complicate the long-term plans. Never happen.

If they trade him to the Eagles, I know he's coming to the Vikings. Childress had connections and he would love to get revenge on the Packers in as many ways as possible.

Favre plays a more traditional QB position, like Kolb would, unlike McNabb's more mobile style. Could they want to cut Feely and let Favre mentor Kolb?
