Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, who recently fired agent Fletcher Smith, has hired a new agent.
The new agent is Todd France.
France’s goal will be to help Westbrook get a new contract with the Eagles. France won’t get paid a dime until the new deal is done.
Smith represents Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, and Smith presumably had been trying to get Westbrook’s contract renegotiated.
Westbrook has hinted at a training-camp holdout, but it is regarded as unlikely that he’d stay away.

Westbrook will be at camp with a new deal in place. There is no way he’s getting the $30 million he’s asking for, but the team will pay him more than the $15 mil they said.

How many different ways can you say to a guy we can only offer you so much guaranteed money? Westbrook’s on crack if he thinks he’s going to get a contract extension taking him past 31 years old (and thus getting him larger guaranteed money). The Eagles said they like to give him more guaranteed money, and that 15 million is a good number, but he wants 30 mil (5mil more guaranteed than LaDanian). Oh well, using the same agent as the teacher’s pet McNabb didn’t work out for him, his new agent might as well tell him to hold his greedy breath until he’s blue in the face.

Funny, a Todd France replaced Akers as placekicker a few seasons back when Akers was hurt. Entirely different person though, I’m sure.

It’s time for all contracts to be binding. That way, there’d be no justification for players who are under a current contract to hold out for extensions or more money. A contract would be a contract. This current system is broken. The owners should relinquish some current flexibility for a guaranteed cost to have a player over a specific length of time. If the owner believes that his stars deserve more money for playing beyond their pay, they could give them a bonus just like the rest of us get.
Fix the system or let all of the whiners sit out.

So Westbrook is trying to turn up the heat by bringing in a guy named “France”!? Might be the first agent ever to drop his pen and run from the negotiating room….

Any chance that this Todd France is the same Todd France that played for NFL Europe as a kicker and tried out for several NFL squads?

FYI… it’s not a different person. Todd France the kicker once he retired/was let go, became Todd France the Agent.
And you thought you could only learn interesting facts under the caps of snapple bottles!

CONTRACT n., adj., and v.kon-trakt; A meaningless agreement between owner and player that binds only the owner to terms originally agreed upon insofar as the player decides to perform. Should the player decide to perform (per the agreed upon terms), that player is automatically entitled to: a) more compensation for owner; or b) he his release from his originally agreed upon performance. There it is…wipe your but with it!

When I read the headline I thought you meant his wife didn’t shave her armpits and only bathed once a week.

I think a better headline that would have really generated some activity would have been … “Westbrook moves to France!”.
You missed an opportunity there.
