Earlier on Tuesday, we addressed the report that the Green Bay Packers have called the Baltimore Ravens regarding a possible trade of quarterback Brett Favre.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the Packers have called multiple teams, and at least one NFC team, about a potential trade.
Discussions regarding a trade don’t mean that a trade will happen. And the fact that the Packers are calling other teams and not vice-versa strongly suggests to us that there isn’t a huge market for the 38-year-old tractor-riding primadonna.
If there were, G.M. Ted Thompson’s cell phone would be constantly belting out whatever ring tone he has programmed into it. (He strikes as a “Don’t Fear The Reaper” guy.)

Gee, would it be the Skins? Theres no QB issues for the Giants, Cowboys or the Eagles. You could make an argument for the Eagles, but no one would want to replace McNabb with Favre as starter at this point. If McNabb fails, in goes Kolb, end of story.

Whew, that was close. I almost went 60 straight minutes without a Farve update. That’s like Len Pasquarelli going 60 — nay — 6 minutes without some form of caloric intake. Or Mike Shanhan, going 60 days without some decision that would otherwise be career suicide for those not living in the Land Of Perpetual Employment. Or going 6 straight visits to the grocery store without seeing some update on Amy Winehouse’s desperate attempt to stay noticed/relevant.

Primadonna?!?!? Florina…you’re not very smart are you? Not missing one start in his NFL career as a QB no less, sure does make him a primadonna. Just drop it. Everyone is pretty much sick of your Brett Favre stories.

I say trade Aaron Rodgers and the phone would ring a little more! Hell you got Brian Brohm now. Bring Favre back and get to the superbowl in ‘08 thats a no brainer! Ted Thompson acts like Aaron Rodgers is a 2-time Heisman trophy winner or something! Its not like he got Carson Palmer or Big Ben waiting in the wings! Someone would give him a 1st rd. pick for Rodgers.

Packers trade Farve to Panthers for a 2nd
Farve beats out Delhomme
Packers struggle early and by week 13 are 7-4
Panthers, led by Farve, are 8-3
Carolina comes into Green Bay in week 13
Behind a pumped Farve, Carolina beats the Packers
Packers miss the playoffs when Minnesoota wins the north and the Giants and New Orleans are the wild card.
Guess who gets fired??

Ted Thompson is an idiot. First says he won’t trade Favre. Now he’s shopping him. Says the Packers moved on, made changes to the offense. That’s why Favre is second string. Right. He’s going to let brett come back, sit on the bench. Yeah, Idiot GM, tell the fans that the starting streak had to be broken because the team developed some new complex plays that Favre could not execute. Let’s see what happens when “Get Behind Me” Rodgers throws 3 picks in the opening game, with Favre on the bench. The beginning of the slide back to 1980s mediocrity in Green Bay.

I woke up this morning and put on my Favres. I went down to the Favre and made a bowl of Farve with a glass of Favre. Then I got in my Favre and went to my Favre where we make lost of Favres. Then I had to go really bad so I went to the Favre and took a Farve. Then home to have Favre and watch some Favre on my 60″ Favre. The off to Favre to get some Favre before my Favre starts tomorrow.

By not trading before training camp, he won’t be able to learn a new offense, effectively, or have chemistry with wide receivers. So a team to trade for him after training camp would be moronic. He is going to be with Green Bay or retired.

I didn’t read where this was limited to the NFC East. Last I checked there were 11 other teams in the NFC (not counting GB) with at least 6 (SF, Car, TB, Atl, Min, Chi) that could use him.

Sutton McLooth… classic post. I’m a huge Green Bay Packer fan… spent many o’ dollar on that organization… and I can tell you what.. I’M SICK AND TIRED OF THE BRETT FAVRE TALK. It’s beyond yesterday’s story. He retired. End of story.
I’m in the growing, overwhelming majority of 25-35 year-olds who just want to turn the page, and start with a mobile, quicker-thinking QB.
The fact he isn’t traded already, just goes to show, he’s not wanted in this league. This league is about upwards and onwards… growth, and young players maturing on the field.
I applaud you.

How about a trade with the Minnesota Vikings?
Lets say a 7th rounder since the Pack really
don’t “want” Favre. Or do they fear the
Vikings that much NOT to do a trade?
What about the Bears? Do the Packers fear playing
Brett Favre? Maybe the Packers are trading
the wrong QB? Unproven Rodgers will let the
Packer brass down…

Hard to believe that Favre doesn’t have a lot more left in him than Montana did who was traded to the Chiefs for a 3rd rounder and a marginal safety. I gotta think there are a few teams that are interesting but want to see how things shake out.

@dano75
the packers dont necessarily fear playing against favre. they fear the reaction they would get from the fans if favre rolls in wearing a different teams uniform. and while TT MAY think that favre is past the point of getting it done deep into the post-season, it would take a full-hearted fool to think that brett would not bring the thunder AND lightning down from the heavens to rain upon the packers untill they die a slow horrible painful “death”, if he were to play against them twice a year(DIV. OPP.). so i guess maybe they do fear playing against him somewhat. additionaly, the packers beating favre would be just as hard to watch as favre beating the packers-IMO.
