Eagles rookies Trevor Laws, Bryan Smith, and Jack Ikegwuono are beginning their NFL careers on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Laws, a second-round defensive tackle, and Smith, a third-round defensive end, are expected to miss only a couple days of practice.
Cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu also is on the PUP list, and he’s expected eventually to land on injured reserve, due to a serious knee injury that he suffered in January.

This is normal Eagles procedure, especially with rookies in Ikegwuonu’s situation. It’s a way they stash extra players to give the rooks time to learn the game while carrying more vets on the 53-man roster. Recent examples are Chris Gocong and Jeremy Bloom, so it seems to work with varied success.

Every year Andy Reid has the most awsome draft EVER, but his veterans are the most AWSOMEST, so it isn’t easy for his rookies to get on the field. This counts for Andy’s SUPER FUN AWSOME MOST SPECIAL teams.
At least that’s what Joe Banner told me.

Did Jack Ikegwuonu ever have his trial?
He’s not a very good player, he’s got a major injury, and he’s got a criminal history. That was a horrible draft pick.

they will be just fine,Laws is the only one expected on the list to see some action in 08. AR says he will be ready with pads on next week.
