Garrett Reid, the son of Eagles coach Andy Reid, was sentenced today to two years in a state corrections program that is specifically designed for drug addicts.Reid will also have three years’ probation after the two-year sentence has ended and will have to pay $30 a month in supervision fees. He will be subject to frequent random drug testing.
“The intention is to get this young man treatment,” Judge Steven O’Neil explained. “His addiction is deep, long-lasting and he is in need of treatment.”
O’Neill also addressed Reid directly, telling him, “You are an addict.”
Reid pleaded guilty in May to smuggling pills into the Montgomery County Jail, where he was serving time for crashing his car while he was high on heroin.
Garrett’s younger brother Britt Reid was arrested on the same day that Garrett’s car crash happened; Britt spent six months in jail and was also sentenced to drug treatment.

Isn’t it about time Andy stepped down? I mean come on.
As a 45 y.o. man with a career and two sons, I may not
have that option (God forbid I have the experience the
Reids have). But Andy has MILLIONS! How many more millions
do you need?
YES, I understand he may not be working for money. He may
get the greatest joy in the world out of it. But these
ARE HIS SONS! I honestly think Andy Reid needs a reality
check. I love him as a coach. But this is more important.

Wow, not football news. Isn’t there any more Brett Favre news? Or maybe a Spygate article to get the envious haters posting their semi-English?

My dad would have given me a swift kick in the ass. Of course, he didn’t have to, because I’m not a freakin idiot.

Hope these young guys can be grateful for a soft landing after a long fall… They still have their whole lives ahead of them.

Isn’t it about time for Andy to step down? I mean I look
at myself: 40 something, 2 sons. Luckily I have been
blessed enough to have them be fairly trouble free to date.
But I would do everything under my power to help them if
necessary, including quitting my career (or at least
postponing it) to help. TIME, people, TIME is what kids need.
YOUR time.
So, given this, let’s examine the fact that Mr. Reid has
MILLIONS of dollars! For the life of me, why isn’t he doing
the right thing, the needed thing, and taking a leave to help
them????

@semfi,,,
Believe it or not, Semfi, Andy and his wife have their own lives to live. They can’t sit home all day trying to figure out what two grown men are going to do next.
If they need him, they probably got his cell phone number…

Very few people know that when Andy took that two month leave of abscence last offseason, when his families hardshhips were plastered everywhere, he was living in the rehabilitation center with his son, sharing a room with two beds and one window. TWO MONTHS. Andy Reid will do anything for his sons and if that means leaving the team for good, then he would do it. With that being said, all you people who think their funny and make smart a** comments on these types of stories, I’m one step ahead- “Andy should have been in rehab, to get his fat a** to stop eating”- there ya go, everybody happy now?

These aren’t kids anymore. These are grown men that have to be responsible for their own actions. If he’s an addict there is nothing his father can do to fix it. He needs professional help to wake him up. Also what exactly is Andy going to do for him while he’s in jail?

My dad would have still put his foot up my ass, no matter what my age. I’d still do it to my nephew too. Don’t have my own kids, helped raise nephew.

Andy Reid your sons have been locked up mulitple times for drug related charges when are they going to start and be held accountable?
AR: Well yeah I have to do a better job at raising my kids. Thats my fault put that on me that they don’t know how to act in public. Oh and its also my fault that Garrett didn’t do a good enough job of getting those pills far enough up his sphincter.

For at least the next 7 months, Coach Reid’s son will be in state prison. What good would it do for his family if he was not working and was sitting around his house? I could see maybe taking some time off once his son gets out, but there is no reason for him not to do his job.

Two years in a correctional facility with murderers, rapists and violent felons? For a DRUG crime?
Gosh, he won’t be able to get drugs in prison! Nope. Not at all. Drug policy is so flawed.
