Eagles coach Andy Reid apparently has gone soft. Entering his tenth season as an NFL head coach, Reid is going to go easier on his players who are on the wrong side of thirty.
Reid said at a Monday press conference that he has started a “30+ club.” Every third day, all players age 30 or over will get the morning practice off.
“Thirty is the cut-off,” Reid said. “Now you take into consideration that I have two quarterbacks that are 30 and a punter and a kicker that are 30, so the rule will be bent a little bit with those guys. But, for the other crew there will be a little different schedule.”

Hey Mr. Mike,
As an Eagles fan, I was so glad to see Big Andy back behind the mike for his training camp season opening press conference, I was inspired to poetry. So here it goes…
The Hawaiian Shirt was a real nice touch
as Big Andy took the stand
The silence was deafening, even more so
than the fanfare of a band
With a clearing of throat he announced “Time Is Yours”
to signal a start to the press
He assured the fans tuned in from afar
that the Eagles will do their best
I wish Good Health to Andy and the Troops
as he faces these upstart teams
At season’s end we hope you’ll be holding
the object of all of our dreams…
THAT’S THE LOMBARDI TROPHY,
IN CASE YOU ALL CAN’T GUESS!!!
GOOD FORTUNE TO YOU AND ALL THE PLAYER, ANDY.
WELCOME BACK! GO EAGLES!!!

Where is the point of diminishing returns? In the tug of war between rest and conditioning, there must be a tipping point where conditioning wanes to an extent that it is actually detrimental to the health of the 30+ club. I doubt that Andy the Hutt knows that point, so I hope that this is something his training staff came up with, and not just a “new approach” to “change things up”.
His response to why the new program was put in place was: “Well, they’re old.”
Is this jovial, smart ass Andy, or “why not try something new” Andy?
By the way, being soft for “Downy” Reid is hardly a new thing. Just sayin’……..

Fouts; even as a Eagles fan…that made me laugh
Snyder: stop bein such a hater…you got your DE in leotards…be happy
maybe people will start to realize that the team does give contracts to guys into their 30’s…but only if they are worth it
sorry, but a lot of the good older talent they let go of ie. troy vincent, bobby taylor, etc…just were not worth it.

Wow….is Andy turning over a new leaf? He’s now resting his 30 yr olds when he normally cuts them during training camp. What’s next? Might he actually run the ball in a goal line situation? Don’t count on it.

Haha, yea. I think his son is getting sentenced today. This guy should take care of his younger kids before worrying about the guys that won’t even be on the team in 1-2 years.
