I think all the people saying that Caleb Campbell made the wrong choice REALLY discourages high schoolers from entering West Point.

As a long-time Panther homer, I've read the list of keys to a successful season and noticed that "divine intervention" is missing. And considering that I'm an atheist, that's saying something.

@MaineMan, I agree with your assessment. O'Connell is the no.2 QB for the Pats on opening day. I have a feeling that they aren't too happy with Cassell, he seems to be the odd man out in the equation if you ask me. Although, I really don't understand why they are so upset with him. He made one poor play against Miami and was picked off by a future Hall of Famer.

After drafting O'Connell that high, it's doubtful that the Pats let him go unless he's an epic failure in camp, and they likely would risk passing him through waivers on the way to the practice squad.

So, it comes down to Cassell v. Gutierrez. Since Cassell is the "incumbent" with a lot of experience in the Pats' system, Gutierrez has to perform exceptionally well in the pre-season to earn the spot. I doubt, though, that the Pats would simply cut either of them, though neither of them would likely bring more than a 4th round pick in a trade. Except, perhaps, with the Bucs (heh).

It seems to me that the big question with the Falcons is whether or not they're st00pid enough to start their potential future franchise QB on opening day as a rookie behind a highly-questionable O-line (47 sacks surrendered in 2007).
