In 2006, Mike Bell was one of the pleasant surprises of the NFL, an undrafted rookie who finished the season with 157 for 677 yards.
But in 2007 Bell carried just six times for three yards, and now he’s done in Denver, as the Broncos released him today, four days before the start of training camp.
With 2007 leading rusher Travis Henry also gone, the Broncos will now have a running back competition featuring Selvin Young, Andre Hall, Michael Pittman and Ryan Torrain.
The Broncos also cut rookie kicker Garrett Hartley, meaning Matt Prater will enter training camp as the No. 1 kicker.

Probably for a lot of the same reasons the Patriots didn’t resign Vinatieri.

They did try to resign Elam, and offered a deal that would have made him one of the top 5 paid kickers. He wanted more money then that and it wasn’t worth paying him as much as he wanted (top 3 paid) when he only kicks field goals and doesn’t handle any of the kick-off’s. He wanted to play in his home town and The Falcons offered him more money then Denver. It wasn’t like Denver just said na go we don’t need you at all, they tried he wanted out more then he wanted to stay.
