After months on the free-agent shelf, veteran linebacker Takeo Spikes is generating some interest.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Spikes visited the Lions this past week.
Spikes got his start in Cincinnati, and then signed with the Bills as a free agent. He was traded to the Eagles in 2007, and dumped after one season there.
He visited the 49ers not long after being released, but since then there has been little activitiy.

Saints should look at him. We need a outside lineback to team up with Vilma and Fujita

Spikes will likely have a good season this year - youth and a high salary forced him out in philly - he started to make plays prior to shutting it down the last two weeks -

He should be generating interest from the Saints, but the Saints think
they have a set team. They don’t, imo, as they are a good LB short.

Even if he is washed up, he HAS TO be a ton better than Paris Lenon. Sims, Dizon, and Spikes would be a massive improvement over Sims, Lenon, and Bust Bailey. Hopefully Lewand can find the money for him.

Spikes was an intense guy on defense in Philly, good press guy, good team leadership guy. By the time he learned the new system well enough, young guys started to show what they could do too…
Spikes was an ageing, pricey veteran caught up in the mix.
He can help somebody, but I hope it’s not the Saints…
