Dolphins S Yeremiah Bell is trying to come back from an Achilles tear (and to emerge from a pack of 27 safeties on the roster).
With their second first-rounder signed, the Jets are now focused on getting LB Vernon Gholston, their only unsigned rookie, under contract.
Will Cam Cameron’s work in Baltimore conjure memories of his efforts in San Diego . . . or Miami?
John Harris of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review wonders (as do we) why in the hell the Steelers were chasing RB Kevin Jones.
Jags coach Jack Del Rio says that WR Jerry Porter will be ready to go for the start of the regular season.
Woody Paige apparently likes the smell of man sweat.
The Chargers have inked CB DeJuan Tribble, the sixth-round pick from Boston College; their only unsigned rookie is first-round CB Antoine Cason.
The Saints have signed sixth-round K Taylor Mehlhaff and sixth-round WR Adrian Arrington.
The Vikings are helping with flood clean-up in Iowa. (Maybe that will reduce their tampering penalty.)
Will Brett Favre show up for the team’s Hall of Fame festivities on Saturday night? (And, if he does, will he kick Ted Thompson in the crotch?)
Lions CB Leigh Bodden wants to see double-digit interceptions. (Jon Kitna should reach that goal by Week Five.)
Should the Bears pursue Brett Favre?
The next agent for Eagles RB Brian Westbrook remains a mystery.

The Bears can’t sign Brett Favre. The Packers already have tampering charges ready to submit to the league office to prevent it.

Woody Paige must be among the most comical sports writers in the country.
On ESPN’s “Around the Horn”, he says some really funny, offbeat stuff, and he always has a sign behind him with a goofy comment or slogan on it to add to the fun…
Sometimes he even wins the verbal jousting contest, but he is funiest when he pouts after he loses one.
