A league source tells us that the Green Bay Packers are confident that they have sufficient proof to show that the “Minneapolis” Vikings (thanks, Greta) tampered with quarterback Brett Favre.
Another source has laid out for us some of the facts that the investigation could (emphasis: could) reveal.
For starters, it has been reported that the Packers believe that phone records will reveal that Favre has had multiple conversations with Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. But we’re hearing that the Packers might already have the phone records. Since the Packers wouldn’t have had access to the phone records of Bevell or any other Vikings employee, the logical conclusion is that Favre was using a cell phone that has been bought and paid for by the Packers — and that the Packers have full access to the documents reflecting all calls made and received.
And we’re hearing unconfirmed rumors that the list of calls made and received by Favre on his Packer-provided cell phone contained other numbers. And that one of the numbers (again, unconfirmed) could belong to phone belonging to Brad Childress, head coach of the Vikings.
Because Childress and Favre have no prior relationship, any discussions between the two of them would be suspicious, to say the least. Especially if the communications occurred after a multiple days of multiple discussions between Favre and Bevell.
Meanwhile, the Vikings have been eerily silent regarding the situation. And that could be because they fear that their nuts are in a vise on this one.

What a dope! He was talking on his Packer provided cell phone.Maybe Mike should hook him up with his Sprint contacts. If they have Childress talking to Favre, guess what Vikes fans your GUILTY of tampering.Say goodbye to potential draft choices which I will not speculate on.

What? You can’t call a guy up and congratulate him on his achievements and wish him a happy retirement? Heck you will see that Childress also called Payton Manning and asked him to speak to Tarvaris Jackson and give him some advice. Is that tampering?

If this is true, Favre is going to come out looking terrible. He just better not try to explain it away with his “I’m a straight-shooter good guy” victim routine and think he’ll still have public opinion on his side. If so, he’ll find out, just like Roger Clemens did, that no matter how much you think the fans love you, they can smell bullshit from miles away. Try and feed it to them and they’ll turn on you fast.
In other words, I can’t wait.

Well I wouldn’t put it past the Vikes to try something like this honestly. While I have nothing against them they are the team that poison-pilled (hey I invented a new word) the Seahawks with the Hutchinson deal which was a little underhanded. So trying to grab a QB of Farve’s stature when they are possibly a QB away from being legit contenders especially from a division opponent doesn’t seem that far fetched.

Favre, at this point, is poison for all parties involved. Is he gonna piss on every fire hydrant on his way out? This is just getting uglier and sloppier as we go.

Blah, blah blah. The Packers ought to shut up. So what if Farve talked to the Vikes. The Pack don’t want him. They think that they should have it everyway they want it, and legally they are allowed to play the games they are playing. If they start showing they are controlling maniacs, public sentiment will turn against them.

Damn, Childress is dumb. He’s gonna have to cough up a Herschel Walker type bonanza to get TT to drop this complaint.
Then, when Rodgers beats out the ‘Queens and Favre throws 3 INTs against the Packers, all of TT’s critics will be silenced.
Game, Set, Match; Ted Thompson.

“Meanwhile, the Vikings have been eerily silent regarding the situation. And that could be because they fear that their nuts are in a vise on this one. ”
It could also be that they are being quiet because this is baseless
BS.
If, however, Childress is proved to have called Favre, then he
must be fired immediately. This would be a unforgivable
screwup.

Not only would the Packers have the cell phone records, but they would also have access to VOICE MAILS left on the cell phone.
What I wouldn’t give to hear a voice mail released where Brad “BTK” Childress is BEGGING him to come to play for the “Minneapolis” Vikings.

So what you’re saying is…even in RETIREMENT Brett is still being intercepted?
Seriously though, that would be Thompson’s best card. If true, that completely pulls the rug out of Brett’s “gosh, I would like to play with the Pack but they wouldn’t have me” routine.
…and what an idiot if true.

How many other people have called Favre that are connected to a team other than the Packers. The guy is commited to the Packers they control his fate. If there were any dealings that need to be done with Favre they would have to go through Packers management. Everyone knows this. It would just be plain stupidity.

This is awesome. Finally a juicy tidbit in among all the hue and cry. Favregate is only beginning. Favre’s Wed night bitching about Ted Thompson doing what a GM is SUPPOSED to do was embarrassing to watch. Favre seems to have not paid attention to the NFL, um, ever.
I’m so glad I wrote Favre off when he and Strahan rigged the sack record.

If the NFL is going to penalize the Vikings for Green Bay’s mess they might just as well move them to LA while they are at it.
Everyone up here is going to be pissed and you can kiss any chance of a new stadium goodbye.

Remember that the question is if Favre and the “Minneapolis Vikings” (LOL) talked about Favre coming to the Vikings. The question is not whether or not they talked. This is an NFL regulation, not a restraining order.
IF the Vikings are guilty, then they need to suffer the consequences. But all I’ve heard so far is that there were phone calls. Nothing about the content, though.
I think the Vikings’ silence right now is to keep the burden of proof entirely where it belongs: with the Packers. Don’t give them anything into which they could read; they made a claim, make them prove it.

I find it hard to believe that Brett Favre and Brad Childress have no prior relationship as Florio suggests.
Brad Childress was only the quarterback’s coach and then offensive coordinator at the University of Wisconsin from 1991-1998, only leaving when he was offered a job from Farve’s then quarterback coach, Andy Reed.
Add in the Darrell Bevell connection — current Vikings offensive coordinator, friend of Brett Favre, and Packer’s offensive asst/qb coach from 2000-2005 — and this makes even more sense.

Even more so in regard to inmymind.
controlling maniacs, really? It is a rule of the NFL, they are not being controlling maniacs and if there is some secret conversations going on it is in the best interest of the team to go after it.
