In an interview with ESPN’s James Walker, Chris Henry said he harbors no ill will toward the Bengals for releasing him and would sign with them if he’s reinstated.

“Going back to the Bengals is possible. I wouldn’t mind it happening because I loved playing in Cincinnati. I got real close with all the guys out there and I planned on being out there for a long time. I really had a good time playing ball out there in Ohio.”

That reinstatement is one of two obstacles, interest from the Bengals being the other one, to Henry’s return. The door is open following the decision to drop assault and battery charges against him earlier this week but he must meet with Roger Goodell. No date has been scheduled for that meeting yet but Walker says that a meeting could take place within two weeks.

The Bengals had no response, citing both Henry’s uncertain status and a policy of not commenting on players not under contract. When Henry was first released he said that he’d be interested in playing for the Saints or Cowboys and each of those teams could still use a receiver. Given his financial situation, however, it’s probably best that Henry not rule anyone out as a potential employer.
