It’s a move that likely will provoke bad memories in Philadelphia.
Per a league source, Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard has hired agent Drew Rosenhaus.
We’re told that the team and Rosenhaus held an initial meeting on Wednesday, and that both sides hope to avoid a repeat of the ugliness that unfolded in 2005 between the team and another Rosenhaus client, receiver Terrell Owens.
Sheppard has been available via trade ever since the team signed cornerback Asante Samuel, formerly of the Patriots. But no deal has been even close, and there has been no serious talk regarding a new contract for Sheppard in Philly.
Sheppard is due to earn a base salary of $2 million in 2008, which is less than 10 percent of the value of Samuel’s guaranteed money in his Eagles contract, which runs through 2011.

Rosenhouse knows the Eagles won’t fold under pressure. He learned that the hard way w/ Owens and his reputation was badly damaged because of it.

Rosenhaus has brokered many potential deals between teams that otherwise wouldn’t be talking. If he and Sheppard have a plan, I hope they get it done before camp next week.

Wow, if he makes a stink then this could turn out just like the FavreDrama.
Both under contract, both want to play, both mad about being upgraded.

I truly believe that DR learned a lesson - the hard way - via Owens. I don’t think you’ll ever see any of his clients pull the kind of crap T.O. did with the Igs.
But I also thought Favre was really retiring…so what the hell do I know?

What would be sweet is if TT from GB would grow some nutz and make a push for this guy. Harris is 34 this year and Woodson 32. The Pack have the oldest corners in the game and the most unproven guys behind them. Lito would make a great number 3 and take Harris place the next year as starter, but the Pack are just one inj to harris or c wood and their playoff hopes diminish……….then again its not t jackson or r grossman could burn us up. and J kitna and friends cant get 10 wins, so we will just get spanked in the playoffs then.

Yeah, you can tell by all of the players that aren’t signing with him, right? He’s only got what, like 80 clients in the NFL? Who came out better in that TO deal, anyway? TO and Rosenhaus, or the Eagles?

Ummmm… How about the overall value of the contract that Sheppard signed and is working under now? That wasn’t exactly peanuts. He did knowingly sign a 5 year deal worth millions. He choose to secure his future over waiting for a possible shot a free-agency. Now he wants to have his cake and eat it too. I don’t blame him for trying to get more money with the rising salaries. At the same time, he hasn’t been on the field enough (injuries) the past few years to command to top-level salary. There comes a time to shut up and show the team you can still play if you want more money. Come to think of it - that’s how it works in the “real world” out here too.

I seem to recall that the Eagles have played in just as many playoff games as the Cowboys since that went down and actually won one.

What’s your point? I seem to recall the Eagles are *still* looking for a good WR, and finished last in the division, 5 games behind the Cowboys last season and there’s really no reason to believe that they’ve improved very much, certainly not to the degree that the Cowboys have improved themselves. I also seem to remember TO ultimately getting what he wanted from the Eagles… his release. Too bad he had to break McNabb open like a rusty shotgun to get it.
