Remember that Brett's contract is set up so that even if he is traded he gets to "OK" the destination... The only reason the Redskins would make a move on Brett would be for a followup trade to Minnesota for a higher draft pick than they would have to give up to obtain him in the 1st place...

I just don't understand why all the Packers fans talked about how these guys were"Great Characters" with how this stuff is all unfolding... Favre is absolutely right to be angry with the media releases the front office has made about what he is "going to be doing" and what is "not going to be doing." Ted Thompson's 1st mistake was making Favre make a decision in March instead of holding off until later on in the spring... I think without doing that they would have a quiet off season and one more year with Favre... It's like asking a senior in high school if he's going to try to play college ball after just losing the State Championship game... You're not going to hear them say "Hell Yes" 9 times out of 10... If you let things sit you're going to give them a chance to go through their priorities and make a sound decision...

Bottom line is, Favre has gone too far... The Packers' front office has gone too far... A trade or release is imminent... Aaron Rodgers will be the Packers quarterback this year and most likely that means that Brohm will be starting 8 games this year after Rodgers gets hurt

If i had delhomme, i wouldnt bother with favre at all.

i see brett going to the highest bidder during training camp - lets see what other starter gets hurt or stays hurt.

////////////////

campbell is 7-12 as a starter in games he seems to have finished. what an upside!

Just because one of his daughters goes to school down here, everyone wants to put him on the Panthers. We don't need a bandaid. As long as Jakes arm hasn't fallen off since the surgery, it looks like he will be back and ready. And, I don't think they are good enough, even with Brett, to run too deep into the playoffs. So what would the point be if he couldn't put them over the top.

Favre in the NFCE? He may as well retire. That's not the division for an old man to be playing in no matter what team it is. Too many good corners and pass rushers. He'd be dead meat. Check out his stats in 5 games v. NFCE teams last year.

  A C % TD INT Sacks QBR
166 95 57.2 5 8 9 64.1

He threw all of those TD passes in two games against the Giants. None vs. the Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins. Keep in mind that Favre was sacked only 16 times all year, including playoffs.

Why does everyone think that the Viking would be interested in giving up a "King's Ransom" for Favre? The idiots who did the Walker trade are LONG gone. And if ANYTHING the current ownership has been frugal and careful in Free agency. Give it up folks. He will NOT end up in Minnesota. And it's just plain ignorant to keep suggesting the current Vikings ownership would just give up all kinds of things for "Lord Favre". You're living in the past...

The Packers beat the Eagles last season, opening day.

Although, to be fair, before last season the Packers last win over the Eagles had been in two thousand, with something like three or four straight losses sprinkled in there some.

And yeah, seriously, Favre did take second place (which was still only vote) in the NFL MVP voting last season. And if you want something more objective than popular perception, he finished 3rd in footballoutsiders.com's DPAR and DYAR, and 4th in DVOA.

"Did any of you geeks ever think that maybe the int’s and problems of the early 2000’s were a matter of coaching??"

LOL that's rich. Umm yeah, the COACHING is what affected Brett Favre's reads and decision making in the pocket during those down years. Keep telling yourselves that you Favre-Homers.

And stats? Funny, aside from last season none of the Brett Favre-ites can cite a statistically-impressive year for Favre in recent history. The ball bounced Favre's way last year and that's the extent of it. The team that TT built played every bit as much a part in last year's success as Favre did. Favre last year was a fluke. But hey, I hope he comes back so he can throw another 20-30 INT's this year and send all the Favre Homers back to their little holes in disgrace (not that there's all that many of them anymore).

Two rallies for Brett so far in Green Bay and Milwaukee and not even a total of 300 people have showed up. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! And I think half of the people in attendance were wearing white coats and carrying nets to snatch all those Favre-ite mental patients and send them back to the local nut house from whence they escaped.

As a Giants fan, I would like to see him go to the Skins. I think he would do well there. The NFC East games are always a lot of fun and this would make it even more exciting. I think Campbell was finally showing some real promise, so I don't know if it's a SMART move, but it would certainly be an entertaining one for the fans.

It seems some of you idiots completely forgot last season where this over the hill, prima donna, has been threw 28 td's and 15 int's. The dude owns every record in the book and was MVP of the nfc last year. Did any of you geeks ever think that maybe the int's and problems of the early 2000's were a matter of coaching?? Is it just a coincidence that under good coaches (Holmgren and McCarthy) Favre has been excellent? Have any of you even looked at the stats, or is it just more fun to act vile and stupid behind an anonymous screen name than to actually know what you're talking about?

Favre's name has come on for years in Washington. Even before Campbell. And fact is last year the Skins only woke up AFTER Campbell got hurt. It was old pro with no experience who took them to Seattle in the playoffs a game they came back and seemed to have won.

Carolina would love to have Favre...

If Jake has any complications with Tommy John the next choice is Matt Moore and he needs more time to develop

One good hit to jake's arm and his career could be done...you cant go into the season knowing your QB can be fragile

Not likely, the Skins were in the playoffs last year with a 1st round QB who shows promise. </i>

That was Collins who took them to the playoffs.

It's a good move for the Deadskins b/c they can be only one interception away from a trip to the Super Bowl.

I believe it was Chris Carter about 3-4 days ago who made this prediction on ESPN.

It seemed like he based his prediction on where Favre would fit the best.

He pointed to these facts:

1) Yes Jason Cambell is a good starter and he is going into his 5th year but he has had a new offensive coordinator and system each and every year.

2) Zorn will be his 5th in 5 years.

3) Zorn uses the west coast offense as does Favre.

4) Favre signs a two year contract and Cambell learns from 2 hall of famers how to do the west coast shuffle.

5) The Skins have the talent to make a Super Bowl run.

6) Snyder likes the Big Names and has the money for a big signing bonus.

Do you guys just make this stuff up or what? First it was the Panthers who not only don't have the cap room to sign a washed up Favre but their starter has looked great in the off season thus far. Now it is the Redskins, who also don't have the cap room and have a young QB that they have been grooming. Why would they want to bring Favre in? At this point in his career he is no better then Campbell!

The only teams I can think of that may want Favre are the Bears, Vikings, and maybe the Jets. Considering two of them play in the Packers division, perhaps your next made up story can be about the J-E-T-S!

I like it. Keeps him out of the NFC Norris and could possibly turn the east into a serious war of attrition. Bad news is the Pack will have to win the division because the wild card will come out of the east.

Is the 2009 1st round pick burning a hole in Snyder's pocket??? First he offered it for Chad Johnson, now possibly Favre.

That man has no idea how to build an NFL team.

Instead of going on Fox, Favre should have gone on Oprah, jumped up and down on the sofa, and proclaimed his love for football. That would make it a lock--Favre to the Redskins for a 1st round pick. Plus, Favre could star in the Snyder/Cruise production of "There's Something Else About Mary."

I'm sure Jason Campbell would be thrilled, this move would kill the Redskins. They already have a new coach, offense and aging offensive players. I hope it happens, I love watching Dan Snyder destroy this team, he never disappoints.

@ proudmonkey

I don't think you can tell another team what they can or cannot do with their property once you have traded your property; however, there could be conditions placed on the draft pick(s) that Snyder would have to send to Green Bay as compensation.

For instance - it's a 3rd round pick if Favre spends the entire year on Washington's roster; or it's that 3rd round pick and a 2nd round pick if Washington trades Favre; or it's the 3rd round pick and a first round pick if Washington releases Favre and he signs with an NFC Central team.

Being a Viking fan, I hope the third scenario occurs - but that Favre ends up with the Bears.

Joe in Raleigh says:

July 15th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Why would anyone give up a 1st rounder for a guy who is probably going to be released?

----------------

This is a good point; didn't Florio say something about a week ago, along the lines that the Packers have to act within 3 days on Favre if Favre applies to be taken off of the retiree list? Something like that? Anyway, after the period of time expired, they were supposed to be obligated to release him.

This is a good point; didn’t Florio say something about a week ago, along the lines that the Packers have to act within 3 days on Favre if Favre applies to be taken off of the retiree list? Something like that? Anyway, after the period of time expired, they were supposed to be obligated to release him.

Not likely, the Skins were in the playoffs last year with a 1st round QB who shows promise.

A name that surprisingly wasn't mentioned--Jason Campbell. All indications have been that the coaching staff is pleased with the way he has been progressing over the last couple years. Do they not see him as a viable option to run this team?

Wait a minute.....I thought Favre has "never envisioned playing with another team".

Hell, he even said last night that he's not sure if he'll even come back. Favre is knowingly generating all this drama and he doesn't even know if he's coming back!?

I hope Favre does come back next year so he can throw 30 INT's and humiliate himself even more and then leave the game a disgraced buffoon.

After all Jason Campbell's gone through for the team? This would be horrendous news.

I love Favre, but he's on a world tour to destroy any remaining credibility. Why don't stars learn from people like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice who add one or two mediocre years with teams that nobody wants to remember them playing for?

As a Redskins fan, I would weep for three reasons:

1) Jason Campbell's talent and heart will be wasted in D.C.
2) The new philosophy of collecting draft picks and staying away from aging/overpriced free agents will be exposed as a sham
3) The Snyder/Cerrato administration will have proven incapable of sticking to their guns

Just say no, Vinny!

Leititride.....I hope you are talking from a Packers standpoint....Cause Favre would be eaten alive in the NFC East. This aint the Vikes and Lions and even the Bears secondaries we are talking about here.

CowBoys and Eagles have just beefed up their corpd the Giants have been doing it through the Draft the last few years.......Brett would be sure to have another 06.

If my beloved Skins actually trade ANYTHING to the Packers for Favre I might have to consider rooting for a new team. How about the Ravens? Purple and Football go together if the football is of the "flag" kind IMO, but if the Skins get Favre I might learn to like the color purple.

Nice rumor, but it doesn't make sense. The Skins traded a 1st round pick to get Jason Campbell. His last season at Auburn was his most sucessful, and he was running the West Coast offense. Plus, this is the make or break year for JC as the franchise QB, why would they put him on the bench for a guy who might (should) retire after the season? The only way this might happen is if Vinny convinces Danny that a Superbowl win is a Lock with Farve.

It would certainly be interesting to see him land in Washington, no way the Redskins win anything with Jason Campbell at the helm.

Please don't do it Snyder!!! Keep Farve out of DC and give Jason Campbell a chance to become the franchise player that you traded up to draft! PUH-LEEEZ just say no to #4.

The best thing that could come out of this mess is that Favre comes back and throws 48 interceptions for whoever he plays for.

Having a WCO isn't the only qualification for bringing in Favre. There's also cap space and team need at the position. Washington has neither.
