In Part Two of an interview with Fox News, quarterback Brett Favre seemed to indicate, fairly clearly, that he isn’t incluned to call the Packers’ bluff and report to training camp as the No. 2 man on the depth chart with a $12 million salary.

“I don’t want to go back there just to stick it to them,” Favre said.

Much of the rest of the interview sounded at times like Part One, and the entire exercise still strikes us as an attempt by Favre and agent Bus Cook to cajole Packers fans into pressuring the front office to let him go.  If that’s the case, then Packers fans need to realize that they might be paving the way for Brett to play for the “Minneapolis” Vikings, as interviewer Greta Van Susteren called them.  Twice.

Favre also suggested a couple of times in Part Two that he still might not play at all, and he seemed to acknowledge that his only option is to hope that the Packers will trade him to a team for which Favre would want to play.

Finally, Van Susteren showed clips of the sparsely-attended rally aimed at pushing the team to bring him back.  And she and Favre actually acted like it was a sign that the presence of roughly 200 people reflects a sufficient groundswell of support to demonstrate that Favre has real clout.

Our take based on the events of the past few days is that he doesn’t have nearly as much as he thinks he has, and that he’s losing more and more of it all the time.
