Former Bengals receiver Chris Henry was scheduled to stand trial (again) on Monday for assault and battery charges that resulted in a hung jury earlier this month.
But before the guy with the Hollywood snapping board thing could say “take two,” the case ended.
According to media reports emerging from Cincinnati, the charges against Henry have been dropped.
Apparently, the prosecution made some preliminary motions, which were denied. After the decision was made, the state dismissed the case.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had indefinitely suspended Henry, pending the resolution of the charges arising from his most recent arrest. Now that the matter has been resolved in his favor, Henry could be free to sign with an NFL team.
After being dropped by the Bengals, Henry said that he’d like to play for the Cowboys or the Saints.
In Dallas, Henry would be reunited with Adam Jones, Henry’s college teammate at West Virginia University. As one league insider opined to us a while back regarding the simultaneously presence of Jones and Henry in Morgantown, “It’s surprising no one was killed while they were there.”

Despite their overall reluctance to bring in turds wouldn’t The Eagles be a team that has to consider Henry. They’ve been trying to trade for a wideout all offseason with no success and (distractions aside) this is one of the most talented young wideouts in the league. Not only would adding him fill our biggest need, but it’s just as important that he doesn’t go to the Cowboys.

Just our luck, we keep him and he’s found guilty, suspended, fined, jailed etc…we cut him and the charges get droped and he is reinstated….

IF he is reinstated and IF the Cowboys do try to sign him, you know they are going to give him the same deal they gave Adam Jones - 2 to 3 years, league minimum, and if anything happens you are immediately cut.

Are you crazy Kaz? The guy is a total turd and the Bengals made the correct decision in letting this guy go. Let some team with no morals, like the Cowboys, take this scumbag.

If I lived in Dallas, I would be looking to move real quick. The crime rate will quadruple by the end of the summer. Of course, if I lived in Dallas I would have probably shot myself a long time ago.

Apparently the “victim” had quite the violent history, and it probably wouldn’t have gone well for the prosecution at trial. Chris Henry will probably sign with the Cowboys, and hopefully clean his act up. People who make mistakes and become “turds” as the more mature here call them are allowed to make amends, right? Or are we just burning them at the stake?

Making amends is ok once or twice. This guy could make a career out of excuses. Making amends is admitting your mistakes and trying to do better. If you are too ignorant to appreciate what you have and think you are invincible, the odds are your going to take a fall. It happens all the time in the real world. The rules don’t apply if you can catch a ball or run fast? Nobody’s getting burned at the stake, but he might have to get a job!

We could either retry him in which case he’d still be in town. Or we could drop the charges, and he’d be somebody else’s problem.

Whereas Green Bay is affectionately known as “Titletown, USA,” Dallas could now be known as “Turdtown, USA.”
