Packers quarterback Brett Favre will end his silence regarding the recent events surrounding his unretirement via an exclusive interview with . . . Greta Van Susteren?
Seriously.
Favre was interviewed on Monday by Van Susteren, who likely doesn’t know whether to put air in a football or give it a facelift, and who hosts an evening show on the Fox News.
In a crypic blurb on her show’s web site, Van Susteren says that Favre “accepts” the decision of G.M. Ted Thompson not to grant his release, but she also reiterates Favre’s desire to exit the Packers.
The interview will air Monday night on Fox News at 10:00 p.m. EDT. (Even Keith Olbermann will be watching.) In a photo on the Van Susteren site, Favre is seen talking to her in his normal appearance — unshaven, gray T-shirt, and camo shorts. Amazingly, however, he is wearing shoes. And socks.
Regardless of the potential impact of Favre’s words on his football career, the selection of FOX News and Van Susteren will raise eyebrows with folks like Chris Mortensen and Peter King and Jay Glazer and Al Jones of the Biloxi Sun-Herald and others who undoubtedly have tried to put themselves in position to get this “get.”

I’m going to tell the company I work for that I’m leaving and then change my mind three months later. Do you think that my job will still be available?

Looks like Favre is trying to take his case “to the fans”….since he’s not getting his itch scratched by the Packers or any other team since nobody’s offered to trade for him. What kind of A-hole bolts toa division rival anyway the way Favre is supposedly set on doing? I’m amazed Favre has any fans left in Wisconsin. The Packers gave him every opportunity to come back after his “retirement”. He jerked them around like he does every year. Looks like Brett is finally getting the humbling he seems to deserve.
Sorry Brett, but the Packers are in the right. It is not only perfectly reasonable but expected that they move on after a player retires. Too much time and effort has been spent prepping Rodgers for the starting role. You waited too long to change your mind, and now it seems like the majority of football fans (even Packer fans) are firmly aligned against you. You did it to yourself. LOL @ the 100 or so dumba$$es who wasted their time embarrassing themselves rallying for Brett yesterday at Lambeau.

If your return to work guaranteed an increase in profit margin and customer satisfaction, I’m sure it would. Regardless, if you didn’t turn in the paperwork to officially quit, there isn’t much they could do to keep you from coming back anyway.

In fairness to Greta, she is from the Green Bay area, has talked to him before, and is a rabid packers fan. I believe she knows how to put air in a football (okay, it may be filled with hot air), and the facelift comment is just mean.

Because of the way Favre perceives he is being treated he has decided not to come back & instead will become John McCain’s running mate which is why it is on Fox.

100% yes - if you were the best in your position, possibly THE best of alltime, then yes, I think your job would still be avialable, even if you told your company you were leaving and you changed your mind three months later. Think about it. You’re a moron.

Do you play quaterback in the NFL? Because I find the comparison pretty ridiculous. Bottom line is, every team in the NFL has had QB problems in the last 13 years except the packers. Many teams repeatedly tank because of it. Teams like Chicago, Buffalo, Minnesota, Miami, San fran, and so on have all had a number of players trying to fill a seemingly black hole at the QB spot. Packers fans want to start the Aaron Rogers era after being one game short of the super bowl. When you think about that its insande. For all anyone knows, rogers could be a total bust, get hurt, or simply not find a way to win close games. If they could keep him another year why wouldnt they. If you think Im crazy, askl the dolphins how the post marino era is going. Or maybe the falcons (although Vick was no prize) they were a playoff team with Vick and nothing without. I’m just saying isnt there the possibility that farve is as good as madden thinks? Remember also, the packers couldnt run at all until the weather got cold. How will Rogers do with blitzes, and 8 man drops? something to think about

But see,you are using real-world logic and common sense mixed in some human decency and reasonable expectations. Brett Favre is above that. Those rules don’t apply to him. He’s won a Super Bowl 12 years ago and set some passing records so he’s bought himself the right to lord over an entire city,NFL franchise, teammates, fans, coaches and front office executives. Brett Favre has privately retired or unretired probably 10 times over the last 4 off-seasons..heck,he’s already changed his mind 3 times THIS off-season and yet Ted and Mike and PackerNation are supposed to bend over and take it however many times Brett feels like giving it.
The Packers should trade Favre AND Rodgers..hand the ball to Brohm and say “to hell with both of you”.

DarnSkippy,
That depends. Are you the record holder in almost every statistical category that applies to your job? Have you been with your company for almost three times as long as the average employee in your position? Have you led your company to the top in industry performance? Have you not missed a day of work since accepting the job? Do many of your peers consider you one of the all time greats? Are you the face of your company?
If some of those apply, I think your job might still be available.

I can see Peter King writing in his diary tonight how Brett stood him up for the prom….err…. chose not to choose to sit down with him for the interview. Especially after Favre refused to return his text messages. These high school romance break ups are very tough. Maybe King can drown his sorrows in a half-caf, mocha cappachino at Starbucks and report back on it in his next MMQB.

Instead of a carefully scripted and edited interview with Greta, Favre should hold a press conference, either in Green Bay or elsewhere, where real sports writers can ask him about the chronology of events and his future plans. Favre is acting like a spoiled child and even the diehard Favre fans are going to start losing respect for him. Favre is starting to act like T.O. did when T.O. wanted out of Philly.
How long before we see Favre being interviewed while doing crunches on his driveway?
