As far as the rally goes, this is a community-owned team. According to Wikipedia, "As of June 8, 2005, 112,015 people (representing 4,750,934 shares) can lay claim to a franchise ownership interest".

Why isn't the organization reaching out to the community? They've chosen a side but have not made an effort to measure the opposition among their fans.

For those that want Brett to start, let's see if a petition will make them, at least, reconsider.

The Petition is online at: LetFavrePlay.com (http://letfavreplay.com)

I think the last sentence should be changed from the blog because I actually voted in that poll, and as we know, I am the opposite of a Packers fan.

Vox

He couldn't put a ring on Brady's finger because Brady can't handle a constant pass rush. With that extra play-maker, the Packers beat the Giants in the NFC Championship, and then win the Super Bowl instead of the Giants. Are you seriously trying to say Moss wouldn't have improved the Packers like he did the Pats? Idiot.

"The man was a Randy Moss short of both the MVP and Super Bowl trophies."

Oh. I see. Moss couldn't put a ring on Brady's finger but he's all that Favre was missing? Idiot.

soooooo0......shouldn't they be protesting outside of Brett's house in MS chanting "we want Brett".....since the packers already said they'd bring him back? After all, it's up to Brett whether Brett wants to play for the packers, or stay retired.

what i dont understand is the hype for Aaron Rodgers? if TT loved rodgers so much, then why did he wait for 23 other teams to pass on him before drafting him, Rodgers was supposed to go either to Miami or San Francisco, but slipped due to people believing he could be a bust(well the same could be said for alex smith who is a legit bust), anyways, if TT was planning to groom a young QB, he should have done it sooner, as Soon as Favre was choking in that playoff game vs. philly the packers should have given him the hook, the reason favre lasted so long was that coach Sherman allowed to play reckless and make foolish mistakes. I also wanna add that Green Bay's contigency plan without Favre is a joke as well, they draft two rookies to backup a "supposed" first-year starting QB, what kind of pro team does that? I also wanna add deep down inside, MM & TT know they want Favre and need him, they dont wanna swallow their pride and let their ego not get in the way.

end of rant.

Sounds like the pack just wants farve to go away. MY guess is cause he'd cost them so much in salary cap. He's clearly better than aaron (just peed my pants) Rodgers.

The question is why won't the pack then trade him.

All you Packer fans that don't want him... protest for him to be cut loose. You've got your savior in Mr Rodgers, you obviously don't need Favre. Apparently he's greedy, cares only for himself and has singlehandedly prevented you from winning 8 Super Bowls due to interceptions. It sounds like you'd desperately wish for him to play for the Vikes or the Bears. Truthfully, I don't think you guys even believe your own BS.

The Milwaukee paper reported that "more than 100" people showed up. I guess the next report we'll hear is that a handful of drunks stumbled out of a tavern in Peewaukee and somehow found themselves bussed to Lambeau. After listening to some annoying chanting, the drunks were left by their erstwhile kidnappers to find their own way back home.

You don't see Packer fans expressing their views on who should start for the Jets.

Hey!!! I think Indy should start Sorgi

By the way, that Oilers rally was DOA as in dead on arrival. A local fan club organized the thing - mind you this was pre-internet days for the most part - they didn't publicize it nearly enough or organize appropriately ... they told a few radio and tv stations but the main thrust of energy came from within their membership. And that was their downfall. They held it at mid-day on a workday. Needless to say, there were a lot of people interested in keeping the NFL team in Houston at the time (despite the owner) but that rally worked against the effort to retain the team in almost every way imaginable (much like this could for Favre/GB fans) because it gave one side a chip, i.e., "see, no one really cares" which in the case of the Oilers leaving - it wasn’t that simple. But Houston fans are fine with the way it ended up. I think a lot of us are ready to see an end to this saga and a start to training camp.

But Houston fans are fine with the way it ended up. I think a lot of us are ready to see an end to this saga and a start to training camp.

It's funny how black and white every issue gets turned into.

It's either you're pro-Favre or you're pro-Rogers. What about Packers fans who are pro-Packers???

The pro-Favre camp might be right; their best chance at "getting to the Superbowl" is with Favre. He increases their chances from, say... 10% chance behind Rogers (or Brohm) to say... a 30% chance. That's pretty generous, considering the pro-Favre camp is rooted in the cliche "it's tough to win in the NFL" (which is true, but water is also wet and it's lame to keep pointing that out).

Then theirs the pro-Rogers camp, who the pro-Favre camp seems to believe are of the impression that Rogers gives them a good chance to get to the Superbowl (or win it, good post whoever pointed that out) next year. Do those people actually exist? I've never heard from 'em, except from the pro-Favre camp. It's like they're fighting an enemy which doesn't exist... which is typical in the US, isn't it? war on terror anybody???

but i digress- Brett Favre is thinking about the short-term right now in his decision to push the Packers into the hole he has. He's thinking one year of playing football is worth the potential risks to his future credibility, his health and family life, and an organization with a young nucleus of players at the skill positions who would be better served to create chemistry with a guy who can be there longer than a year.

If it's so hard to win in this league, like the pro-Favre camp continues to preach, then why aren't the pro-Favre people looking at the playoff drought that would inevitably follow after another year of Favre.

i think the nostalgia in their eyes is blinding them.

all things will surely have to end, and great loves will one day have to part.

What isn't mentioned is that this rally was put together late Saturday afternoon, people were invited by calls from random white pages listings. This may have something to do with the small number of people. There is no question as to whether he should be taken back as the starter. The man was a Randy Moss short of both the MVP and Super Bowl trophies. Now the same GM who wouldn't give up a 4th round pick for Moss (but takes Jordy Nelson in the 2nd round) is pushing an upper echelon QB out of town so he can start his former 1st rounder (only a 1st round pick because of an extremely weak QB class that year) who has played about 3 quarters of pro ball. Why does this man still have a job?

I just wish Reggie White had signed with someone else. Favre wouldn't have his ring, and he'd have been run out of Green Bay in the early 2000s for throwing deep into triple coverage when the swing pass was open.

I thought by now everyone realized that quarterbacks only make a small difference compared to the OL and DL. Eli Manning understands this, and he's an idiot. If the team's good, Aaron Rodgers will be fine. And the team is definitely good, they'd have gotten to the Super Bowl last year if it wasn't for Brett Favre.

Speaking of the Oilers, this reminds me of when Bud Adams kicked Warren Moon to the curb in '94 in favor of the promising and much younger Cody Carlson who had been waiting patiently for his turn at a starting job.

Moon went to the Vikings and proceeded to throw for over 4,000 yards in '94 and '95, going to the Pro Bowl both years at age 37 and 38 and winning the NFC Central in '94. Carlson struggled and was never heard from again after the Oilers sunk to 2-14 in '94.

I think it is pretty obvious that Favre doesn't want to play in GB. Why is that such a hard concept for the fans and writers. It is COLD in GB.

Everything was working like he wanted. Screw the Packers until mgmt says, "no more". Retire so the team can start preparing for life after that guy from Something About Mary and then start spreading rumors of your return. Ask for the release and ... oh no. What do you mean they didn't grant it?

Good for GB. I used to love his heart and love for the game, now I can't stand the sound of his name.

It all seems so simplle, but ...

Okay, I agree that no one will ever mistake Ted Thompson for a Rhodes Scholar. It's questionable whether he can find Rhode Island on a map. Fortunately for all involved, however, the Packers didn't hire Ted because of his alleged great intellect.

But this is really, really simple, Ted.

The idea of pro football is to win games.

Brett Favre as starting quarterback gives the Packers the best chance to win football games.

Brett Favre is and should continue to be the Packers starting quarterback.

Am I going too fast for you, Ted? Is this too complicated? Do you need pictures? Okay, let me try again to make it more clear....

Brett Favre = winningest quarterback in NFL history.

Aaron Rodgers = unproven college player who has never started and never won an NFL football game.

Summation: Brett Favre shouldd be welcomed back eagerly as the starting quarterback for the Packers. The Green Bay Packers then will win many football games in 2008.

Got it? Any questions? Good. Class dismissed.

You folks at PFT do realize that this wonderful website for bringing back Favre has polls that do not register a NO vote for bringing Favre back? What are they afraid of? Finding out that a majority of Packer fans are sick of this crap? Thank you very much for the memories Brett. Its time to retire and go fishing.

Ask Cowboys(Troy Aikman), Broncos(John Elway) and Dolphins(Dan Marino)just how easy it is to replace a HOF QB. If Brett can still play, which he did by throwing for over 4,000 yards and leading his team to the NFC Championship game, they should let him. Aaron Rodgers can wait or just get mad on the bench.

200 people on a Sunday, what a joke. Jesus, Opie and Anthony had 100 people at a rally in the middle of the week when they got fired back in 02, and they're just a "dopey radio show".

The people of Green Bay's silence is speaking loudest. Hear that, Brett? It's people finally getting sick and tired of your bullshit.

Exactly PackOne. Call me when 5000 show up. The mainstream media, and I include PFT in that group at this point, IMO are really overestimating Packers fans love for Farve, vs. their love for the Green Bay Packers. There was a Green Bay Packers football team before Favre, and there will be one after.

I can also tell you this, real Packers fans will judge TT fairly for turning around a 4-12 football team and building a young roster full of talent, vs. being rode out of town for not cow-towing to a single player, legend or not.

It's really funny, how the mainstream media think they are so in-tune with Packer nation...I don't think they realize how tired a large majority of Packers fans are with this yearly waffling display by Favre. We love him, and love what he's done for us, but we're not f-ing stupid either. We've 'bout had enough.

Of course, the media will never realize this, because they don't want their story to die.

Ampats:

I will preface this by saying i am NOT a green bay fan, and I never like Brett Favre. I respect Brett Favre, but I am not a fan. I don't think he's as good as he, or even Green Bay fans think he is. He's never carried the time, and has always been extremely inconsistent. The only time Brett's been a GREAT QB is when he has a GREAT team around him. He never put up good numbers unless he had a great cast around him. There are other QBs that still put up good numbers and played well despite being on bad teams, Favre never did that.

You have to look at two sides. One is, what if Favre comes back and sucks it up hardcore. If the TT caves, Favre is the starter and the Packers go 7-9 then what? If Rodgers starts, his first full year and they go 7-9 you can lok at Rodgers play and determine if he was the reason or not and move on to Brian Brohm if necessary. If Favre lights it up, then good for him. If Rodgers lights it up, then good for him. Either way you have to know what you have in your QBs and letting them sit on the bench for 5 years isn't the way to do that.

These people Calling to take Favre back are the same dumbasses who complained when TT hired MM instead of Jim Bates. TT knows what he's doing.
Aaron Rodgers will be very good. Mark that down.

13-3, Conference Championship game, and perhaps one bad decision away from the Super Bowl. My favorite player of all time is Dan Marino- to say I'm not crazy about Brett Favre((x17 in melodic John Madden tone ala Frank Caliendo) is to say your not crazy about your upcoming colonoscopy. For a fan to prefer Rodgers over Favre makes the nickname Cheesehead redundant.

Favre just wants to jerk Tt around. It's a personal vendetta. The offense has already been reworked to fit Rodgers. Favre is what PREVENTED us from getting to the Superbowl last year. If you'll recall. He can't hack it in the cold, and he's done.
Aren't these brothers the same dumbasses in that Justin Harrel draft pick video on youtube?

The "Bring Back Brett" web page has four polls, one question is "Do you think the Packers gave Brett Favre enough time to decide whether or not to retire?"

LOL, a couple of years are not enough to cut the decision. Grant him another decade!

Real life comedy. Can't wait for Giants vs. Redskins ...

Why do the Packers, the players and even the fans keep setting their aim so low.

It's always to GO to the Superbowl. It's never to WIN the Superbowl. Last year, McCarthy's goal was constantly "We have to get to Arizona". It was never "We have to win the Superbowl". They seem content with just 'getting' to the Superbowl.

And again, like the 50th reference I've heard this year, Packer fans think Favre gives them the best chance to GO to the Superbowl. Can we please set our aim a little higher?

Tom brady is sitting around saying "We plan on winning the world championship this year, that's our goal" while all the other suckers are scratching and clawing just to get the game and be happy with it.

Come on guys, it's self full-filling!
