hell there are lots of qbs out there without the "required" arm strength. and some who dont have "it" are allowed to "work on it".

scouts screwed this guy and now he has let it all go in the toilet.

Jerry Jones has owned this team since 1989.

In that time he waited until the 2007 season to sign a FA who played at Arkansas via Seattle (Ken Hamlin) and then the following year drafted a RB right out of Arkansas (Felix Jones).

I just don't get all this hype about what a hard-on Jerry Jones has to draft and sign Arkansas guys.

Where's the history?

2 guys in 20 years?

Apparently the McFadden Fever isn't totally dead yet.

@bigmike79

the only reason he was shifted to WR is because he didn't have the arm strength to make it as an NFL QB and he had measurables that transfered to the WR position. What "big arm" are you talking about?

It was the dumbest thing in scouting and coaching history to turn matt jones into a receiver though he was athletic enough to make the transition
he would have been an opposing coaches nightmare to stop because unlike
mike vick he had pin point accuracy with a strong arm and he ran a 4.3 forty alot of teams make that mistake though like the jets if they put brad smith at qb they wouldn't have the problem that they are having now.

"....although the Cowboys could use another receiver..."

Err, the Cowboys need another *starting* receiver. They already have three WR's who are mediocre. Adding Matt Jones isn't gonna change any of that.

The Jags depth chart is now (theoretically)

1-Jerry Porter
2-Reggie Williams
3-Dennis Northcutt
4-Troy Williamson
5-Mike Walker
6-D'Juan Woods
7-John Broussard

WHO NEEDS HIS BUST ASS!

D'Juan woods has the same skill set as Toot from Arkansas, and the Jags are loaded at WR. CUT HIM NOW!!!

GO JAGUARS!!!!!

Before Jerry Jones takes on a guy with problems this big, he had better have done something on the field. Matty doesn't even qualify for a look. There are plenty of other teams who also sign problem players who I'm sure will take a look at him after he serves his 1 year suspension.

This guy is an idiot. The writing was on the wall that he was gone - but at least he would have been able to keep his signing bonus. With this little escapade the Jags will be able to go after the pro-rated portion - which I am willing to bet a large sum of money that he doesn't have.

manofaiki,

Two Razorbacks on the team is a very large percentage of the number of the Razorbacks who actually make it in the NFL. Until this decade, there were some years where a single Razorback wasn't even drafted. Most years only two or three Razorbacks get drafted each year. The success rate in the NFL for Razorbacks is abismal. In the 90s the best players to come out of Arkansas to succeed in the NFL were Kenoy Kennedy and Henry Ford. I think the only even decent player to come out of the 80s was Steve Atwater.

Jones does have an affinity for Razorback players, but until the last decade their program was garbage to have NFL type players. Jones may love his alma mater, but he isn't stupid enough to grab a bunch of scrub players especially with draft picks when they clearly can't play in the NFL.

Yeah, we all know the Cowboys are chock-full of Arkansas guys!

Lemme go all the way back to 1960, the Cowboys first year, and count all the Razorbacks that have worn the Silver Star!

Let's see........

(flip, flip)

Why yes, I have it right here!

1. Lance Alworth 1971-1972
2. Jim Mooty 1960
3. Ken Hamlin 2007-present
4. Felix Jones 2008

Wow!!!! LOOK AT ALL THOSE RAZORBACKS!

Practically a Arkansas Alumni Reunion, that wot' we got 'ere!

So in the 20 years he's owned the team Jerry's managed to bring in a grand total of................................(drumroll please)...............

TWO former Razorback players.

And this means................MATT JONES IS COMIN' TO DALLAS!!

(p.s. - I only get this sarcastic when somebody says something really stupid)

"If Jones does get cut, there probably wouldn’t be a lot of interest for a player coming off a 24-catch, 317-yard season, although the Cowboys could use another receiver, and owner Jerry Jones isn’t afraid to take chances on guys with rap sheets."

Plus, Jones is an Arkansas guy and we all know how Jerry feels about them too.

Remember how Matt Jones was supposed to be the latest, greatest, stretch-the-field tight end with his athleticism?
