Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com details the continued difficulties Mike Williams is having getting into playing shape, casting further doubt on what has already been a disappointing career for the former USC receiver since being taken 10th overall in the 2005 draft by Detroit.

Williams has dropped 30 pounds since weighing in at 272 when he arrived in Tennessee last year, but his conditioning still hasn’t been deemed satisfactory by coach Jeff Fisher, who said the receiver still isn’t in a position to play three or four series in a row in a preseason game.

Though the Titans didn’t do much in the offseason to bolster their receiving corps, the addition of tight end Alge Crumpler takes away the possibility of the 6′ 5″ Williams hanging on as a potential specialist in the red zone. As it stands, it seems unlikely Williams could have a roster spot with his third team before the season starts.
