Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo says he has no doubt that Brett Favre is coming out of retirement.
“Oh yeah, he’s coming back for sure. Are you kidding?” Romo said on NFL Network Thursday evening. “He’s a guy who played at a high, high level last year. [Teams] always want a good QB. They’re hard to come by.”
To Romo’s way of thinking, the only issue is how the Packers have spent the last few months preparing for life without Favre.
“I’m sure the organization wishes he didn’t retire if he wanted to come back,” Romo said. “As an athlete, you go through different feelings all the time. Sometimes you feel you need a break; sometimes you feel you can do it forever. … If anyone has earned that right to make those choices, [Favre] has.”
Romo is correct that Favre has the right to make his own choice about whether he’s playing in 2008. But the Packers have the right to make their own choice about whether he’s playing for them. And if Romo is correct about Favre’s mindset, that’s a choice the Packers will have to make soon.

Who the hell cares what Tony Romo thinks? Shouldn’t he be pimping Starter products in Cabo?

Yeah, they could especially use one in Dallas. (Or should I say soon to be L.A.?)

Who is this Romo? Is he on Bus Cook’s payroll? Is Favre working on a teary speech to announce his comeback? Will the Packers hand him a hankie or ask him tp wipe his own eyes with his sleeve? Is PFT the medis arm of John Madden, Inc.? Does anyone care about this?

MDS is correct that the Packers have the right to make their own choice on whether Favre plays in Green Bay. However, they also will have to face the consequences of said choice. Much like freedom of speech is a right, associated consequences can sometimes be painful to endure.

I wonder how Romo would feel letting Favre start for the Cowboys so they’d win their first playoff game of this millenium

STFU Romo. Favre hasn’t “earned the right” to jerk his team and the fans around. I remember a couple years ago during his annual retirement speculation circus that he said in a press conference that “I can play here as long as I want to”. Well Brett, looks as if we’re seeing otherwise. The Packers haven’t exactly rolled out the red carpet. Favre’s days as a Packer are done and at this point, based on general principle, I say good riddance.

I’d rather watch every Police Academy movie back to back than read another lame Favre article. This is why sports writers have a reputation for being lazy, short-sighted and unimaginative.

Thompson is still hiding under his ‘vacation’ to avoid the big decision. Because most packer fans are split on this issue, he can make the right decision for half the people, and the wrong one for the other half. With all that said, Rodgers is really the wild card here. TT will get run out of town if Aaron is a sub par pro QB, especially if Favre continues his age defying production.
Say, Romo was born in sconny, right?
No wonder he’s a playoff bust, maybe gb can trade half the team for Tony so he can move back to the mother land and continue the favre playoff tradition. INT.

For the healthy of Wisconsinites, stop the Favre stories!
Between America’s most unhealthy diet — brats, cheese curds, beer and more beer — and the Favre saga, I think about half the people in Wisconsin are on the verge of a coronary.

Growing up 100 mile North of Green Bay, I have always been a Packer fan and a fan of Favre. With that said, he made is bed NOW sleep in it and go away!
I would much rather have an unproven QB in Rodgers who has the hunger and heart to win, not a half hearted QB who is not sure if he has enough left in the tank! This was obvious against Dallas (HURT….LOL, no heart to hang in there) and in the NFC Championship.
Favre himself said this team was the most talent he has played with, does any of the other players on this team get credit for the stats he posted last year????
THE PACKERS WILL BE FINE WITH OUT FAVRE AND IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON! If he comes back make him compete w/Rodgers for the starting job, Favre as a back up is better than the BIQUEES Old looser Coldpecker!
RODGERS is hungry to start and prove himself, which I will take over a player regardless of past who is not sure if he has what it takes to compete in this league! CAN’T WAIT FOR THE SEASON TO START AND PUT THIS BEHIND US, HE IS KILLING THE TEAM!

@CaptainFantastik - Favre hasn’t “earned the right” to jerk his team around. That’s ridiculous. Every year he holds that organization hostage, every single year. I think the respectful thing to do as an NFL Quarterback would be to tell a team BEFORE the draft that he isn’t returning which gives them some time to either find a replacement or draft someone. Now, they may have potentially wasted a pick. And once you’ve made that decision, go with it. If it’s about the offseason program and conditioning - fine, don’t participate… Favre has earned THAT right. But anything further is ridiculous, they do pay him very handsomely for his services.
