The Redskins have agreed to terms with offensive lineman Chad Rinehart, a supplemental selection in the third round of the 2008 draft.
Per the Washington Post, it’s a four-year contract. Along with a $611,000 signing bonus, Rinehart will earn base salaries of $295,000 in 2008, $385,000 in 2009, $470,000 in 2010, and $555,000 in 2011.
The deal also contains an escalator worth up to $1.2 million for the fourth year. Such devices are becoming more common, given that a four-year deal prevents the player from reeling in a nice payday as a restricted free agent.
The Redskins have signed five of their ten draft picks.
In other moves, the Redskins released quarterback Sam Hollenbach, who was on the 53-man roster for the final two regular-season games and for the team’s playoff loss to the Seahawks.

supplemental selection in the third round of the 2008 draft - the real draft not a supplemental draft. Supplemental selections in the real draft are awarded at the ends of rounds 3-7 for lost free agents.

What?!? other teams… other players… who cares… there were 8 stories about Favre today… should have been 18… I don’t know what Mike was thinking about when he posted other subjects… For perspective I’m here to post what I posted previously… just like Mike ~ Jordan
“If Favre throws for 4,000 yards and takes a team deep into the playoffs while the Packers struggle, it could destroy careers for those who made the decision to cut him loose.”
What if he throws 29 interceptions and the team doesn’t go to the post season? GM’s, coaches, and other team executives have to make tough decisions every season and unless they’re named Matt Millen they are held accountable.
This Favre coming back talk reminds me of the TO debacle a few years ago. Dominated the press coverage to the exclusion of other compelling story lines, but the press continued to run with the saga because it had traction. It’s easy to report the latest minuscule details of big stories but harder to find new stories that the public will pay for with their eyeballs / interest. It’s all a great bore for normal NFL news craving fans, but still understandable for news outlets to continue to propagate the storyline.
~Matthew “I hate Favre at this point” BeerCur… go Skins… I mean, Go Greenbay… Oh, I’m so confused… I think I meant Eagles… or should it be, as the star of NFL turns, tomorrow?
