The coming season is a make-or-break effort for Jaguars receiver Matt Jones. He simply hasn’t meshed with the team, dropping passes and generally seeming disinterested at times.
The good news? Jones has taken steps to fit in. The bad news? He did it by getting arrested.
A reader has forwarded to us this link from the Washington County, Arkansas Sheriff’s office, indicating that Jones was arrested on July 10 for possession of a controlled substance.
So just as the “Days Without An Arrest” meter ventured back to the sacred ground of double digits, it’s sent back to “00.”
And, true to form, Jones’ mugshot displays indifference.

I remember watching the draft in 2005 and thinking he’d be a pretty good fit for the Eagles. Philly wound up with Patterson, and I’m pretty happy with the way things worked out.

I hope Mort’s son appreciates the shill job Mort laid out back when Jones was drafted. Best player in the draft? Let’s not whore out your journalistic integrity just to get your son some extra reps.
And what’s the deal with the anti-Obama advertising popping up on the left side and top of my screen? I thought you were impartial, Florio. Regardless of your political stance, I just hope Mort’s son appreciates your hard work…

What a phenomenal college athlete (go check some youtube highlights of some of his scrambles/bootlegs). Its too bad he couldn’t translate those skills to the NFL. Maybe the Jags should trade him to the Bears… and let him play QB (Matt’s completion % can’t be that much worse than Rex’s or Orton’s).

That’s a banner ad on the left and I doubt Florio has anything to do with it. I think they rotate pics of different people through the ad. Looking at it now it has pics of Al-Saud, Bush, and the BP logo, so I don’t think even it is ‘anti-Obama’. Just happened to have Obama’s pic there when you saw it. You need to retract your paranoia antennae a bit.
