Patriots running back Kevin Faulk, who was cited for marijuana possession as he was entering a rap concert in February, has pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge.
[Editor’s note: A prior version of this story indicated that Faulk pleaded guilty. He actually pleaded no contest. The difference is that a plea of no contest allows Faulk to plausibly maintain his innocence, even though the outcome is no different. We apologize for the error.]
Faulk received a suspended sentence of five months in jail, and a year of supervised probation. He also must perform 40 hours of community service, participate in 20 hours of a substance abuse program, pay a fine of $300, $231 in court costs, and $250 for drug analysis.
Faulk previously claimed that the coat that contained four hand-rolled marijuana cigars wasn’t his.

He’s been a solid producer for the Pats and it’s just a misdemanor, so I’m guessing they won’t cut him loose like they did what’s his name. Just curious Pats fans, in your sliding scale of productivity versus level of criminal behavior required for release, how much of a star does a guy have to be in order to literally get away with murder and still play for the Pats?

Another Pats turd. Maybe Nick Kaczur and Willie Andrews went to the concert with him.

Get away with murder? Are you serious? Florio, is there any way we can ban this idiot?

Faulk is hardly a turd. The guy works hard, does more than asked of him, is a leader, gives back to the community, etc. and MONGER exactly how is this getting away with murder??? If you or I had been caught with that amount of weed we would have either gotten off completely or been handed a similar sentence (given thats its a misdemeanor). In Faulks case given the publicity, he certainly has paid more for this mistake than most americans would.
But thats OK just keep being an asshat so noone here confuses your remarks with something of substance.

Faulk requested that the NFL drug test him immediately after the event. He was tested, and tested negative for marijuana.
Sure doesn’t sound like those were his.
Kaczur should be cut. A druggie and a snitch - terrible combination.

I’m actually sorry for the guy. He gets busted with four joints and he has been hit with over a thousand dollars in penalties and fines. That right there is the problem with this country. Non-violent drug offenders (only herb really) are getting smacked hard by our corrupt justice system. If that was anyone else they wouldn’t be able to afford it, end up in jail, and the taxpayer would be flipping the bill.

If you watched Faulk closely in his games you would see that he is one of the best sports in the game. He has a great attitude and even when people get in his face he is nice back to them. He’s very open with his faith also. I’m surprised he was at a rap concert actually.

Yeah can “we” get rid of any person who speaks against the Patriots? Florio, Belichick will not let you wash his car if you don’t get rid of them. You better have at least 3 more articles about how great the Patties are and that we are the greatest team of all time. He only had the joints to help him recover from injury so it’s not against the NFL rules. That’s how the Hoodie interprets it so it has to be true. I’m speaking in terms of “we” because I am delusional thinking like every Patriots fan that I had something to do with “our” success and actually helped us win the championships (even though they are all tainted). Let the love flow.

This is not Faulk’s first run-in with the law in his hometown. He had the exact same thing happen (not his drugs) a couple of years ago. Not a Chris Henry type turd, but a turd nonetheless.

Harrisson hasn`t done anything not convicted yet of anything yet. But i still find this funny how the American way is to come down hard on someone for weed. I mean if it effects his performance then the team has issuse`s with him otherwise leave him alone it`s only WEED. It comes from the ground, and grown all over the place in other countries. Not like it was Acid or Coke

i hate the patriots but i have to call it like i see it… Faulk is a solid contributor and this is out of character for him.
Does anyone else think that the “sentence” is a little stiff? 5 months in jail, community service, AND substance abuse program? for a guy who tested negative for drugs in his system but just had some on his person? That’s a little harsh IMO.
Other guys seem to get lesser sentences for stuff.

I do recall at the time of this first going to press that he was actually just carrying them for his wife (or maybe girlfriend), which is obviously the most likely lie ever, except for the fact that he got tested and was clean.
Because I know if I’m going to a concert, i smoke a few first, then some more inside, if I’m going to smoke more at the gig.
So my money says he’s stupid, not a turd. Or at the very least, madly unlucky, the one guy at the party who actually was carrying it for a friend!

@Tecumseh
He probably tested negative because he hadn’t used them yet. Football players are rich. You think he could afford his own jacket, or think of a better excuse. You can’t tell me he didn’t have intent to smoke them.

What Monger means is like he knows who killed a man but won’t tell the cops. You know, like Ray Lewis or something. Baltimore still loves him, but pats fans are the only ones with no moral values I guess.

who knows what the hell he was doing with them, BUT:
@corydangerous and others: I CAN tell you that he might not have had an intent to smoke them. If he tests NEGATIVE right after for a substance that stays in your system for AT LEAST a month, one could definitley say that theres a good chance he wasn’t going to smoke his first joint in at a bare minimum of a month inside a concert. Wouldnt he likely have smoked outside as well if he was going to bring it into a public place and smoke?
Not a pats fan, so someone halfway typing that into the box can stop. I’m an Eagles fan but I can also use reasonable judgement to think about what plausibly would happen without seeing that it’s a Patriots player and going crazy about one issue or another.

shuxion, call me mad, but I just don’t see how he wouldn’t have smoked some already if he wanted to. I find it hard to believe a guy (in off-season, i.e. with no testing) would only smoke inside the gig, and would happen to be caught just before his first joint in, at least, a couple of weeks! Like i said before, the world’s unluckiest man!
