Appearing on ESPN’s NFL Live yesterday, Colts coach Tony Dungy spoke about the health of two of his injured stars.

Marvin Harrison’s recovery from knee surgery took a step forward when he ran without pain toward the end of the team’s OTAs.  Dungy said he felt good about where Harrison would be physically to start the year.  He’s also feeling good about the status of the investigation into the April 29 shooting in Philadelphia.  “Everything we’ve heard and communicated from the Philadelphia police department, he’s not a suspect in what’s going on there.  So again, we feel pretty good about where he’s going to be.”

Dwight Freeney doesn’t sound like he’s quite as far along in his recovery from foot surgery.  Doctors have told the coach that Freeney will make a complete return to health.  Dungy did admit to having some doubt about the diagnosis.  “It’s always kind of scary with a guy like that whose speed is his big asset.  He needs to come back full strength, but everything right now indicates that he’s going to do that.”

Neither man is expected to be ready and raring to go when training camp kicks off but the team expects them both to be at full speed on September 7 against the Bears.
