He was brought in purely as a short-term starter but more so as a transition QB/veteran mentor. Not that Dilfer or Frye panned out anyways for the Browns (plus we fans are bitter about many things), but the fact that he originally embraced and later rejected his intended role hacked off many Cleveland fans. His skills were good but decision making was marginal. I don't think that ever changed in his career. The great thing about him, though, was his work ethic. Warrick Dunn even mentioned that recently.
