NBC has announced that Dan Patrick will join the cast of Football Night in America, where he will team up with his old SportsCenter partner Keith Olbermann to handle highlights of all the Sunday afternoon games.
“We are proud to reunite one of the greatest teams in the history of sports broadcasting,” NBC Sports head Dick Ebersol said in a statement. “Dan and Keith were more than successful together, they defined the way that sports highlights are now delivered. Their unique delivery has been sorely missed and now they’ll be able to take their act to a primetime network television audience each Sunday night in the fall.”
Football Night in America will continue to be hosted by Bob Costas with commentary from Cris Collinsworth, Jerome Bettis and Tiki Barber, and reporting from Peter King.
Patrick and Olbermann teamed up on SportsCenter from 1992 to 1997. Patrick will continue to write for Sports Illustrated and host The Dan Patrick Show on the radio.

Too bad they didnt replace Peter King with Patrick, Peter King is a worthless bobblehead for the Patriots, and the east coast in general.

Anything with Olberman in it should be filed under “turd watch”. I absolutely hate that arrogant @!#. SNF has a great crew with the one exception. I only watched one SNF pregame show last year, and Olberman was calling Travis Johnson “the worst person in the NFL” (after Trent ‘Scarecrow’ Green put a helmet in his knee), which is a play off of his news show “Worst person in America” segment. All the other announcers seemed very uncomfortable afterwards. What a ‘tard. MNF announcers suck too, but Olberman is King of craptastic.

I used to like Olberman. The guy is an idiot. He should’ve stayed in sports and no one would know that he is out of touch with reality.

Very well put, SamH…
The show is boring. It’s the only coverage on that late so if the game is any good, I might watch it. Tiki was interesting for a minute, but now he’s sort of yesterday’s news.
But Olberman on the show is not an enhancement to me. He’s a snot!

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to intellectually honest and objective football analysis from a guy that called our fine young men and women in the military “cold-blooded killers” and “war criminals” - and then denied ever saying it.
I like Dan Patrick, but Olbermann leaves a lot to be desired as far as human beings go.
Should be great! Someone will have to tell me how it turns out.

Keith Olbermann: the only announcer who can rival Bryant Gumbel for dullness and ego…and for no apparent reason in the latter case.

Patrick and Costas, Limbaugh and Olbermann…what next?…Lanny Davis and Karl Rove! Olbermann surely ranks as one of the most nauseas, disgusting, over-rated, over-inflated asses on TV. I thought he was an a-hole when he was a sports commentator; now that he has falsely-assumed the mantle of Edward R Murrow, he is just another f–ing twit.

No matter how many people they jam pack in this show, it won’t change one thing - Football Night in America is no NFL Primetime. I am not a huge fan of Tom Jackson, but ESPN had it right with him and Chris Berman running down all the games with Berman doing the play by play and Jackson throwing in his thoughts.
Football Night in America is a mess with too many “analysts” most of whom really have nothing to say and two guys who don’t get “it” in Costas in Olbermann running down the highlights.
I don’t neccessarily agree with Olbermann’s politics and I think he is pretty santicmonious on his own show, but the reason I hate him on Football Night in America is because of his straight delivery with no real emotion of passion.
Costas is too dry for football and should stick to baseball.

“Too bad they didnt replace Peter King with Patrick, Peter King is a worthless bobblehead for the Patriots, and the east coast in general.”
Funny, Pats fans hate King because he has been too anti-Patriots and Bill Belichick. Rumors are that he is persona non-grata in the Patriots organization because of his one sided reporting and comentary on Spygate.
Hey Mike, you know how it feels to be hated by both the Patriots fan and their haters too? Don’t you?

I wonder if FOX ever considered putting Bill O’Reilly in the sports booth. It’s probably not a good idea, he might ask Laura Bowden to take a shower with him and a loofa sponge on a Caribbean vacation.
