Nerdmann, nobody's paying close to 10 mil a year for a back up quarterback. If he wants to play he'll play in Green Bay or be released and be a free agent. I don't think he'll get what he was making in Green Bay, I think that it'll be where he wants to play because he wants to play. I hope he does come back if he still wants to play. It's not like he could come back 2 years from now. Do it for Madden, Brett. He doesn't have much time left.

I agree with those saying let Favre come back. The Packers have Brian Brohm and in a couple of years when Favre's contract expires he'll be ready to take over. This isn't fair to Rodgers and the best thing that can happen to him is to be traded to a team that really wants him.

Favre is not going anywhere. Especially Minnesota. We all know you have no faith in Tavaris Jackson, but there is no way Brett plays in Minnesota.

TT would never trade a good player to a divisional rival. Especially one that is improving. If he goes anywhere, it's to the AFC.

If anyone of you actually listened to Brett when he was retiring he moaned and moaned about how anything less than a superbowl would just be a dissapointment. He'll show up for camp and MM will have to declare an open competition. They won't say Favre is a backup, but if he comes back, they have to allow him to compete.

If Favre plays for another team he will stand to lose millions in endorsement deals, and will probably become the most hated man in Wisconsin.

He knows this, he's not coming back, this is all just rumor and speculation so the sporting press can justify their salaries in the most dead time in the NFL.

Until Favre himself announces he is coming back, will you please, please stop posting these bullS*** articles.

The Packers overall team was better than the Vikings last year with Favre at QB and they still missed the superbowl, so I don't see why you all think Favre will instantly propel Minn to the big game.

OK, I just came up with a new twist.
What if it's NOT a conspiracy between Thompson and Favre? What if it really IS Favre just trying to be a major Ah013, because TT's pushing him out the door?
TT can check mate that by trading him to a REALLY REALLY BAD team. Like the Dolphins.
Worse yet, TT could trade him to a COLD weather team with an ENTRENCHED starting QB! We all know that The Streak is what keeps Favre alive and wanting to play. Trade him to Philly for a bag of chips.

The NFLN said that the most likely place for him to go would be the Jets.
They dished out a lot of money for older free agents so it's more than likely they would go for Favre. Not to mention they were the team that was going to draft him if it hadn't been for the Falcons.

The biggest gaff ever would be the Packers not taking him back if he was to un-retire. They were one game away from a Superbowl last year. The odds of Aaron Rogers even coming close to that feat this year is pretty slim. The only other team that I can picture in need of a QB that would instantly be a SB contender next year with Favre would be Minnesota, and no way in hell GB will let that happen. Everyone else on the cusp already has an answer at QB.

Mike,

Can we get a press box decision on how to spell doofus? PJW would seem to have it correct.

I don't know that the prescription drug thing is enough to get him into Dallas. He might need to knock off a liquor store.

Favre doesn't seem to care about "grooming" other QBs. He could find a job coaching if that were what he wanted to do.

Joe-

I agree. Keep Farve so you have a shot for a couple of years. Take the rookie and groom him. The only stand out replacement was Steve Young, and I dont believe Aaron Rodgers or Brian Brohm are half the player he was. It is a win win if he comes back to Green Bay. He can take care of "winning now" and also prep the Packers for the future. They can avoid "a decade of sucking".

It's about time the Packers just told Favre, "We don't want you to come back. We're moving on." Don't get me wrong, if he doesn't say that he is retiring and just comes back, the Pack probably wouldn't have wasted a second round pick on Brian Brohm. But to hold the press conference, then wait until the draft is over to start mulling around is really inconsiderate to the team. Ironic that I bring it up because of the disloyalty of teams towards players in general, but they need to take a hard stance. But, they probably won't because of all the marketing oppurtunities he creates. Conundrum at its finest.

I can't believe how many Packers fans want to MOVE ON AND MOVE OUT without Brett Favre! You people must be confusing the NFL with your Franchise Mode team in Madden. Do you think you can just draft a guy who's stats look pretty good, run him through a few "Mini-camp" drills and *presto*, you have the fantastic QB?

Seriously, Packer fans, ask Dolphins or 49ers fans how "moving on" without their HOF quarterback is going. When this guy finally hangs it up for real, you're looking at a decade of sucking.

Or they could just IR him right away. The injury? A bruised ego.

Why doesn't GB let Favre play this year...maybe get a two year commitment and trade Rodgers to another team and groom Brohm to take over when Favre really does retire.

I agree with the Falcons call-- Michael Turner gives them a running game, they have some good young receivers, and Favre looks like a hero if he can get them to 8-8, which is possible in a weak division.

As a die hard packer fan, i'm about the only one who ever pictured favre moving on to a different team. He is still an elite quarterback no matter what anyone says. He can propel a .500 team to a playoff contender easily. I totally hope he says in Green Bay but if he wants to play somewhere else, good for him. But he will never play for an NFC north team, TT would not allow that. Without a doubt, he is coming back....I think everyone is starting to realize that.

Why don't the Packers keep Favre? He is only 38 (which is not young, but is not too old). Favre played well last year and did not show too many signs of age getting to him.

He could play 2 to 3 more years with a young, talented Green Bay, possibly win the SB, and then retire (for good). Meanwhile, Brian Brohm gets an additional 2 years of learning under a "legend". As for Rogers, his contraxt is up after this year. He is obviously not Green Bays answer, so you let him go. Why else would they have drafted Brian Brohm?

SD, you are right, Favre will never play for the Vikings, if he returns, he will return to a professional football team.

John Madden and Peter King go on postal style rampages at their respective employeers because they can't handle the possibility that Favre would ever leave the Frozen Tundra.

The Packers won't allow Favre to play for an NFC team, and he doesn't want to play on a rebuilding team. The Ravens might be the team. Their defense has slipped a bit, but is still solid. Their offensive line got an injection of youth. They need a QB and Troy Smith is not the answer and neither is a rookie. They also have a pretty good TE who would probably become Favre's favortie target real fast.

He could be Romo's backup! Come on Brett, let's see what you look like with a star on your helmet! You can beat Brad Johnson out of a job, right? Don't bring that "me me me" attitude with you though. You will never be bigger than the team or the town down here. This is the Dallas Cowboys, not the Green Bay Farveworshippers.

Um, how about the Baltimore Ravens? What better way to groom Joe Flacco than to put him behind a first ballot Hall Of Famer? Favre in the AFC, in the same division as the Browns, Steelers, and Bengals, would make for some great fireworks this year.

I agree, no way does he play for ANY NFC team. You think that TT would actually have Brett open the season in Green Bay--In a purple uniform?! Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Favre is not going to play for another NFC team especially the Vikings...not gonna happen. Winning "now" was an issue for him in GB so that rules out a lot of teams.

What, no Falcons as a possible destination? Come on. I'm sure Artie Mustache would throw tons of money at Favre. It would be perfect for grooming Matt Ryan.
