Despite reports that the Green Bay Packers have rebuffed apparent interest on the part of quarterback Brett Favre to resume wearing the yellow helmet with the squished “G”, a league source tells us that the team’s attitude regarding Favre is simple.
If you want to play, show up.
In other words, the team isn’t going to smooch Brett’s butt (or any other body parts) in an effort to get him to play for them.
The suspicion in some circles is that Favre and/or his agent, Bus Cook, are trying to finagle an impasse between the Packers and Favre, so that Favre can play for another team.
And Favre, as we hear it, has one team in mind.
Who is the other team? Stay tuned. (It’s a slow week, so we need to milk these a bit.)

If I was Ted Thompson, I’d make Favre blink first. Sure you can come back. You’re now the #3 QB. You practice with the #3 team, and you’re #3 on the depth chart behind Brohm and Rodgers.

Come on Florio, this ain’t TV news, this is profootballtalk. There is no commerical breaks or PSA’s, so why withhold the info? Bad move.
However, I’m guessing it’s the 49ers.

oh wow he’ll come back for one team? who is to say that one team would even want to him pay the expected $10+ million salary. and i doubt he would want to go to a bottom dwelling team with no talent so any current team with a chance to make a super bowl run will have to relinquish the starter to bring in favre.
i have a feeling the team he wants to play for besides the packers are the vikings but i dont see the packers letting him go to a division rival.

IMHO, this recent trend of teasing us with part of a story and promising the juicy bits later is a big mistake for this site. Please don’t go down that road, Florio.

As a Vikings fan I am required to hate Favre. How sweet would it be if he decided to play for MN, and won a Super Bowl? Can you imagine Brett and Adrian together, who do you stop? There would be mass suicides in Green Bay if it happened. Let’s pull the trigger (sorry, had to).

Miami? Good, but injury prone RB’s, unproven WR’s, sub-standard O-line, bad defense, and a team that went 1-15 last year, with virtually no shot at winning a Super Bowl in the next two years.
Yeah, somehow I doubt this is where Favre wants to end his football career. You heard it here first……………..

GREEN BAY—Three-time MVP and undisputed future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, disappointed with the Packers’ refusal to aggressively pursue receiver Randy Moss and frustrated with his team’s apparent indifference to making immediate improvements on offense, is demanding a trade to the team he feels will give him the best shot at winning a last Super Bowl ring before his retirement: the 1996 Green Bay Packers.

I would say the Vikings sound like the most logical team for him. What have we been saying for 2 years about the Vikings? If they had had a quarterback they could win a Super Bowl. He is plugged into a veteran offensive line, a franchise running back, and is reunited with old friend Robert Ferguson. If he does do this, he will go from the love of Green Bay to the pits of Green Bay. I just don’t think he has enough nuts to do it.
