Agent Bus Cook has been yapping a lot over the past several months regarding the future of his star client, Brett Favre.
Most recently, we heard that Cook had been telling people that Brett still wants to play. (Two days later, it was widely reported that Brett is telling people that Brett still wants to play.)
We’re now hearing that Cook is privately saying that Favre wants to play for the . . . . drum roll, please . . . oh, wait, it’s in the headline . . . Carolina Panthers.
We don’t know why Favre is eyeing Carolina. Maybe he thinks that it’s the best place for him to step in as the starter, notwithstanding the presence of Jake Delhomme, and have a chance to win. Or maybe Favre wants to play for a time that’s fairly close to his home in Mississippi — and that will play three division road games in that same general area as well.
Beyond the geography and a roster with the talent to compete in a wide-open NFC, Favre has no strong connections to the coaching staff. Favre never has been in the same organization as head coach John Fox.
That said, the quarterbacks coach, Mike McCoy, was on the Packers’ practice squad in 1995.
Whether Favre plays again and whether he plays for anyone other than the Packers remains to be seen. But if he does play for anyone other than the Packers, his next team could be the Panthers.
If the Panthers want him.

Total ludicrous. Can anyone seriously imagine Favre playing for Carolina? Not a chance. Doesn’t add up on so many levels, the least of which is that even a backwoods bohunk like Favre is bright enough to realize such a move would forever tarnish his legacy and mythical status. Why even report this nonsense?

ok i am a bettor stranded outside daytwa.
if delhomme is healthy i take him over favre. period.
i remember jake’s first start, for n’awlins vs dallas christmas eve many years ago (only start before carolina?). jake burns deion with a late td pass to kevin poole, and fading playoff hopes of dallas take a dagger. 30-28. dallas obviously failed to cover…
jake also sounds healthy. he is not a 95-96 vintage favre, but then again, neither is brett.
sounds like brett has been sucked into the bus cook dream machine.

This is BS until Marty Hurney says it’s BS, and then I’m worried.
And no, Brett is not an upgrade over Jake.
Sit back and watch John Fox win CotY, ye naysayers.

I love the fact that the people who don’t know anything about the Panthers say Delhomme is injury prone. He missed 2 games in 2006 and then had the season ending injury in 2007.
Dumbasses. It’s not like he has the injury history of Dan Morgan or Donnavan McPuke.

This is pure speculation but one reason why Favre might want to play for the Panthers … His oldest daughter is a rising sophomore at the College of Charleston. That’s about a 3 hour drive from Charlotte. Perhaps he wants to be in a city where she can watch him play.

I think “Lord Favre” is waiting for the Vatican to form a team. Can’t wait to see those uniforms! I bet they’ll run alot of crossing routes.

How about you cut various letters out of magazines and paste them into words and sentences in a letter to the editor instead?
