Something occurred to me while chatting with our friends at Big Sports 590 in Omaha a little bit ago.
If Brett Favre returns to the Packers, and if the Packers take him back, do the Packers suddenly become the favorites to land Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor?
“He’s been through that quarterback thing before,” an unnamed source told Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel last month. “He doesn’t want to go through it again. Maybe if Favre was still there, but even that wouldn’t be a given.”
So if Favre is there, maybe Taylor decides that it makes sense to play in Green Bay, and to make a run at a Super Bowl title before heading off to Tinsletown.

I don’t know about landing Taylor. I believe the main reason for him not wanting in was the market, not the QB situation.
Still I believe the Pack are ready to move on without Favre.

Yes, we all know that Green Bay is the large market that Taylor craves. Sure JT wants to go to a contender, but he also wants the large media market to use as a springboard for his acting ambitions.

If Favre comes back, I predict it be for 2008 AND 2009.
A Jason Taylor for Aaron Rodgers trade actually makes sense for both teams - and everyone in general. A win/win/win/win situation. Taylor gets his wish and goes to a winner. Rodgers gets his wish and gets to play full-time. The Packers get better with Taylor on the D-Line, and the Dolphins get better immediately and have their QB of the future.
Let Brian Brohm be the Packers QB in 2010.

Not a chance. Tuna only likes players that he can “trust” to stick to the plan and not improvise. One of the reasons Romo had to wait so long to start. Bledsoe was benched for improvising on one play.

If the Packers land Taylor and Farve returns, Jason will give Brett some good tips on how to succeed at Dancing with the Stars.

Jeesus! I DONT CARE about Brett Farve. The guy is a washed up talent who threw a lot of interceptions to lose a lot of games. He hasn’t been much above an average qb for about 4 years His personal story was the only thing that got fans to like him so much; and this story is way more than he ever deserved. I know its a slow news day Florio, but can you write something besides meaningless speculation about a guy who most of us no longer care about?
If you’ve got nothing else, just don’t post anything.

For all that is righteous…STOP THE MADNESS!!!
This whole thing with Favre is getting out of hand. Yes…slow news week, and I understand the need to keep people bang’n your site, but this is out of hand.
Sometimes no news is good news…and it would be nice to come here during my multiple times a day, to find something else besides more speculation on Favre.

The simple answer: No. Bringing back Favre and trading for Jason Taylor would cost the Packers $16+ million in salaries just for those two players plus draft picks. Why would a team cripple itself like that?

If Favre returned and Jason Taylor joined the Packers they would instantly become the NFC favorites, and would likely play the winner of the Patriots-Jaguars game in the AFC Title. I would still favor the AFC team, but then again, if the Giants could pull it off, the Packers DEFINITELY could.

Well of course it all makes perfect sense…TT is NOT giving up any picks for Taylor who has said he’d play one more year and with Favre back taking the reins who heads to Miami? Answer…one disgruntled Arron Rodgers. After winning the Super Bowl Favre and Taylor ride off into the sunset (Favre…for real this time) and then Brohm takes over for the Green and Gold and we have our next franchise QB. Seriously this is what I and others have thought what happened after finding out Favre may or may not have wanted back and us contacting the fins about JT.

Are you kidding me? The words of that “unnamed source” are, at least in part, identical to Mort’s last week on ESPN. He said the EXACT same phrase: “Maybe if Favre was still there, but even that wouldn’t be a given”
I’m not saying Mort is the source, but I am saying this isn’t news. NFL Live pondered this same thing about a week or so ago.

But what’s their cap space especially since they’d have to pay Fav-re his $12mil? JT would want a decent amount of cash I would think.
