The Kansas City Chiefs would like to clarify that their rule against standing while watching games at Arrowhead Stadium is only a rule against excessive standing.
Tammy Fruits, the team’s vice president of sales and marketing, tells Fox 4 News in Kansas City that the team’s guidelines for fan behavior — which drew criticism for listing standing among the activities that “the stadium staff will proactively intervene” to stop — are not intended to stop fans from jumping up to cheer spontaneously.
“We want Arrowhead loud and proud like it’s always been,” Fruits said.
The team will, however, intervene when a fan’s excessive standing obstructs the view of other fans. Now if we can just get a clear definition of what constitutes “excessive” standing, Kansas City fans will know how much time they should expect to spend on their feet when they go to games, and how much time they should expect to spend on their butts.

Yeah, it’s weak, but it’s nothing new. I CMH, every week there’s some octagenerain kvetching about someone who stood up during the recent Buckeyes game. It’s sad.

How did this issue even arise? The fans at Arrowhead must have HUGE mangina’s. How are they going to be “loud and Proud” sitting on their fat mid-western A$$’S. Come to the Black Hole if you wanna see some real football fans!

That still doesn’t make sense. “EXCESSIVE STANDING”. Im sorry if I paid money to watch my team play and they score, I’m going to jump up and down like real fans do. You can’t tell a fan that he should calm down because the people behind him can’t see. Don’t go to the game if you going to bitch about that.

An example:
I was at a bucs game 2 years ago when we were playing cincinatti. We had some obnoxious fans on the row ahead of us (it was a work outting and the cinci fans had flown down). They stood up the ENTIRE time the game was played. That is obnoxiously long standing. Oh, and we had endzone seats, so for half the game the teams were on the other side of the freaking field.
I don’t mind the standing when they’re in the redzone…i don’t mind it on 3rd down or 4th and a big play. but the first play on your own 20 yard line? no reason to be inconsiderate to the other fans :P.
That is my opinion.

It’s really pretty simple. If you’re interfering with others, who also paid to watch the game, then you’re a problem. Your right to enjoy the game does not supercede my right to enjoy the game.

With the team KC has this year, excessive standing/cheering shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s a football game not a knitting class Stinkfist. Thats how Bengals fans role. You can’t take the heat stay home. If your a real fan you stand the whole game unless your obstructing a handicapped fan, then I would say be more conscious.

I was at a Bills game last year where fans stood on the benches in the endzone, which required everybody to do so. Problem was there were a few fans who werent physically able to do so and missed the game.
I totally understand this rule.

Look around, if you’re the only one standing, then it’s probably excessive.

It really should be the responsibility of the person being interfered with to become interfered with. Stand too if its a problem. THis isn’t the theatre or the opera. It is an exciting sporting event that is turning into the corporate event. It is a shame that the liberalism of america is coming to the common folks. The folks that like to work hard and play hard. You pissy little whiners, cry about everything. Standing is now an injustice. Why don’t you stand too? Is it because some corporation has the tickets and they were giving to you, therefore you don’t care about the teams, or is it that you might spill your latte? Go and huff on your farts some more since you obviously like the way it smells.

I’ve been at every single Bengals home football game fort the last 15 years and the majority of fans there do stand up. And If you are physically unable to most fans WILL understand and sit down and let other know. And even if that fails security will help those fans out. This is sad that it will become a rule. But at the same time people WILL understand if there is a problem.
And Bubba why the hell are you trying to make this a political issue? I guess there is no such thing as a crippled Democrat?

The Chiefs are just trying to turn football into a sissy sport. “Hey, let’s propose a rule that requires a football player to cut his hair if it gets a certain length! That will somehow benefit the NFL!”
Instead of coming up with these stupid rules, they should be focusing on how they are going to change their reputation of being too cheap to play their good players instead of sending them off to Minnesota.

I you wanna sit, stay home. If you wanna bring your kids, there are designated areas in every stadium I’ve been to for families. Grow a pair. KC has enough problems, like Herm Edwards’ clock management skills.

I went to my first pro-football game last year. Let me tell you, the only times when I used my seat was before the game started, and during TV time-outs. The same goes for just about everyone else in the stadium that day.

Before everyone goes ragging on the Chiefs, every team in the league will have a similar rule.
“each of the 32 NFL teams has implemented a formal Fan Code of Conduct, at the request of the NFL”
It’s just the Chiefs were the first team to release their new Fan Code of Conduct. If you want to blame anyone, blame the owners/commish who decided on this. It’s basically legal jargon so security has grounds for kicking out insubordinate fans.

To EricTheClown:
Why would you admit to hanging out with transvestites? Must be an Eddie Murphy fan. Either that or actual women don’t find you attractive.
There’s no reason to reason to disrespect someone elses city on here, unprovoked.
You’re supposed to stand and scream on defense and sit down and be quiet on offense. That’s football.
