Our friends at Pewter Report have the numbers on running back Earnest Graham’s three-year, $10.5 million contract extension.
The deal includes no signing bonus, and no guaranteed money.
Graham’s salary for 2008 increases from $605,000 to $1.5 million, and he’ll earn a $1 million roster bonus if he’s on the opening-day roster in September.
So, in other words, the Bucs could dump him at any time before the start of the regular season, and owe him nothing.
Graham is due to receive a $2 million base salary and a $500,000 roster bonus in 2009. It’s the same base in 2010, with a $1 million roster bonus.
For the final year of the deal, Graham gets another $2 million base salary, and a $1.05 million roster bonus.
As a practical matter, then, it’s a series of one-year deals with a club option for each remaining season.

Oh well…It’s better than Ricky Williams’ deal. League minimum.

Proving once again why Bruce Allen is one of the savviest GM’s in any sport when it comes to negotiating contracts… As a former agent he can get a fair deal for both sides against the best of them; this time it was the feared Drew Rosenhaus.

Hey, so if Earnest Graham does anything stupid, the Bucs can’t go after any bonus/guaranteed money.
This is a pretty one sided deal, but obviously Graham feels talented enough to not get booted anytime soon.

Incredible. What’s his flaw? Clearly, he knows what it is - and so do the Bucs. Or, is he represented by Master P & teaching yoga? He’s positioned to “blowed up” the bucs running game this year? No wonder they’re think about adding Jones for competition.
