Joe Jurevicius may have spoken too soon.
Less than three weeks after the wide receiver insisted he would be ready for training camp, the Cleveland Browns announced today that Jurevicius had another procedure on his knee.
According to the team’s announcement, Jurevicius has had ongoing swelling and discomfort, so he had a cleanup surgery yesterday at the Cleveland Clinic. It is now unclear whether he will be ready for the start of camp on July 23.
Jurevicius played all 16 games for the Browns last season, but he did it on a balky knee, and he had surgery in January. He developed a staph infection shortly after the surgery, and the knee has reportedly bothered throughout the offseason.

Hope he gets well soon. Not a Browns fan, but Joe Jur is one of the good guys in the NFL and deserves nothing but good things his way.

Seriously, WTF is wrong with Cleveland facilities?
He could’ve had the procedure done in Trinidad and had less complications.

How many freakin Browns players can get Staph? Unreal. Do they not see a trend here? Is the hospital washing their instruments in Lake?

What is it with the Browns and staph infections? If I was a Browns player I wouldn’t have surgery ANYWHERE the team recommended.

The question is, is it regular staph or MRSA. Staff Aureous is normal bacteria on everyones skin, antibiotic resistant staff is a killer bug that is commonly acquired in health care settings. While it may seem like Cleveland players are getting staph infections at a higher rate than the rest of the league, without a study we can’t be sure. It may just be that the Cleveland organization is more forthcoming with what types of complications their players are experiencing. Post operative staph infections are a common type of complication nationwide and they can be very difficult to deal with.
As a Tampa fan I wish Joe the best. He will always be remembered for his timely catch against Philly in the NFC championship game. A catch he made while his newborn son was very sick in the hospital. A son he would eventually loose to the congenital illness he was born with.

Hey MDS,
Jurevicius is not hurt…
He is still running on that sideline to sideline underneath route where he caught the ball against the Eagles defense when the Buccaneers played them in the NFC Championship Game a few year back.
Look at him go. He is still running on that play…
F2B
…man, that play broke my heart…

If they are talking about Staph infections it is most certainlly MRSA otherwise it wouldn’t be such a big deal. Joe Jur may be a good guy, but he still plays for the Clowns. Perhaps when Tony Grossi and Bud Shaw stop their concerted effort to keep Art Modell from the HOF which he deserves as one of the most important owners in the history of the NFL, we here in B’more will lift the curse of MRSA on the city and the team.

I know a couple of doctors in the area and they say that the Cleveland Clinic is the issue, and it has nothing to do with the Browns facilities.
And anyone in Baltimore who supports what Modell did is a huge hypocrite. Irsay screwed over Baltimore so Baltimore does the same thing to another city. BullSh!t.
