As a Packer fan, I wish Bus Cook would STFU and go back to chasing ambulances. I can't wait till the first game of the season when his jersey is retired. Although, count me among the number who believe that there is no love lost between BF and TT. Between he and McCarthy, not so much, I think. For the record, even though TT has assembled a good young team, I'm not sold on him. He runs the Packers salary cap like he's paying players and FA's like it's coming out of his own personal checking account.

40for60....hit the showers loser. You still smell of vinegar. You clearly don't like the Packers, and that's fine. You say Favre sucks...his worst season is better than any season your beloved Bears have ever had from a QB so go rinse off the vinegar (pgetlease, don't make me say it) and get on with your life....ba ha ha...Kyle Orton and Rex Gross, man...that's rich. Hell even Blair Kiel and Anthony Dilweg were better than those losers.

Brett has already tarnished his image by threatening to retire for the last 4 seasons and now that he has finally retired, he's letting this talk go on and on.
He's kind of like Lance Armstrong. Once a household name and a hero....
Now he's just annoying.

Hey I hate both teams, Green Bay and Chicago but for the Bears-Troll who said GB & Favre suck, you need your head examined.

The Chicago Bears are the LA Clippers of Football. You're a pathetic team that lacks any kind of talent or heart. Even the Kasas City Chiefs laugh at you guys.

I remember when you guys were good, back when I first got Tecmo Bowl.

40for60 says:
June 30th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
I’ve been saying all along that Favre doesn’t like either McCarthy or Thompson because they have strangled all the fun out of the game for Brett. It would seem that my theory could be the bare naked truth after all.

13-3 is no fun at all; setting every passing record, no fun at all; hosting the NFC championship game after going 4-14 and 8-8 is no fun at all.

favre sure did look miserable last season...

Of course this is being pushed by Cook, and it's in his best interest not only for Bret to return, but for him to play anywhere but Green Bay. As it stands now, if Favre came back tomorrow for the Packers, Cook wouldn't get a penny. He only gets paid if Bret signs a new contract...which would of course happen if he got traded to another team. It's in Cooks best interest to try to generate a market for Bret to return and redo his deal.

This reminds me of the time they would not let Max Schmelling retire, and he had to fight Riddick Bowe. Let the olds guys rest, I say.

4ofor60 you're cute, the packers suck and go bears...the bears offseason moves have been astounding and now that cedric benson is healthy and happy, ulacher is healthy and happy you guys finally have a quaterback and a young defense you are all set to win the division....oh wait....

Forum cop you do understand Favre IS staying away. this entire article was about his AGENT. Favre isn't saying anything, according to the article it's his agent that's continually keeping his name out there. That can't be that hard to comprehend?

Is this freakin' drama ever going to end with him? It's sickening and really a joke at this point. He could end all speculation by saying "I'm retired and not coming back." He seems to enjoy this crap.

Cook needs to find a new football player to Live/leech off of. The Green Bay Packers have a quarterback who will do just fine,; thank you. Maybe Favre could buy Cook a lawn reactor and they could cut grass together.

Former Packer greats have always been welcomed when they come back to Green Bay. At this rate, Favre won't be.

Bus, Brett, get over it!!!!!!!!! Sheesh!!!!!!!!!

If he really does want to come back, how about a trade to Miami for Jason Taylor? Makes a lot of sense for both teams -- I'm guessing Favre would be an upgrade over future hall of famer John Beck. It certainly appears as if Ted Thompson has moved on, thus I can pretty much guarantee he would play for someone other than the Packers if he does come back.

Don't blame Favre or Florio, it is just the nature of the beast.

The toughest part of running a popular site with low manpower is coming up with content frequently enough to keep the ad revenues coming in.

Thank god for gimmes like endless Favre speculation and the general stupidity and immorality of professional entertainers, like athletes- if this was a hard news venue, pft would really be up the creek today. UPI can't exactly run "What if Mighty Mouse and Superman had a war?" stories.

We hope everyone will come check out www.diehard101.com

Currently in Alpha stage, about to go beta and we need new folks to help us make the site perfect before launch on Aug. 1st.

The site is kind of a MySpace for sports fans. Check it out, you may enjoy the blogs, forums, trash videos. Come talk smack on other teams!

Bus Cook wants Favre to play. He's not getting any cash if he doesn't and Brett doesn't seem to be the type of guy to do post-retirement work such as TV or endorsements.

Bus Cook's feeling the financial pinch.

1. Favre is NOT begging to come back, he's retired! His agent is yapping about BF playing, so please drop the Brett Favre Hate.

2. Just like a stoopid Bears fan to yap about Favre "still sucking" and the Packers "still sucking"... Favre's record agains the Bears was 22-10... and the Bears have started 21 DIFFERENT QB's while Favre has been under center for the Packers.

3. The Packers have had ONE losing season (7-9 or worse) since 1992, with a 161-95 record. The Bears have had ELEVEN losing seasons, and a 116-140 record since 1992. Who Sucks?

There's maybe 10 quarterbacks in the world that could play QB at the level Favre was playing at. Most of them are between 20-30 years old. As far as I'm concerned, having Favre quarterback again IS not such a horrible thing.

Ha Ha 40for60! The comment section never seem to be complete without some retarded post from you. The same Favre that sucks is the same one that beat your team what, 14 times in a row? You've had 19 starting QB's since he took over and guess what, none of them will even catch a wiff of the HOF unless it's as a visitor let alone first ballot HOF'er. Don't even go there with Rex bringing the Bears to the Super Bowl. He was the lowest rated Super Bowl QB of all time and it was the defense overcompensating for his crappy play that brought him there. Of course you have to actually have a real QB to win a Super Bowl which is a big reason why they got smoked.

That same cheapy Ted has built the deepest roster they've had in years. How could you possibly think that if Favre came back they would suck when they have the same roster that took them to 1 quarter away from the Super Bowl? You have the IQ of a peanut. A very small one I might add.

Why don't we take a look at the Bears. You have 3 third string QB's vying for a starting position and they didn't even entertain signing another veteran. Let their overrated B. Berrian go via free agency, but he was the best receiver on the team. I don't even need to bring up Cedrick Benson or Tommie Harris. Yeah, Ted's a moron. All he does is scoop up starting running backs with 6th draft pick trades. Tell me you wouldn't kill to have Ryan Grant on your team? They have the deepest and most talented receiving core in the league, a good defense and a well respected coach within the locker room. Hell, you'd probably kill to have the Packers #4 receiver as your #1 starter at the position. Then there is Urlacher and his messed up back and griping about a contract.

Enjoy the next season while you watch the Bears plummet to the bottom of the division behind even the lowly Lions. I dare you to even try to give me one reason that the Bears should feel good about going into this season or how they will even be remotely as good as the Packers team who Ted "drove into the ground".

40for60 - Bears are awful. Packers went from 4-12 to 8-8 to 13-3 under Thompson. "Cheapie" Ted helped assemble a team that got to the NFC championship game last year, has as good of a transition as you could ask for at the QB position, and hired one of the best young coaches in the league. Where are the Bears at? Hmmm, you have three guys who could play QB (What's the phrase, when you have 3 qbs competing, you have no QBs?), your first round RB pick from a couple of years ago is cut, Urlacher isn't happy, your no. 1 WR threat is Devon Hester. Lot to look forward to there.

About Cook - is this really surprising? Two of his biggest meal tickets (Favre, McNair) retired, leaving him about 400-500k in lesser income this year than last. To my knowledge, he doesn't have a ton of clients, so I'm sure he's feeling the burn right now. Doesn't mean Favre actually wants to come back and it doesn't mean the Packers will take him back or trade him for anything less than a couple of 1st rounders.

I've been saying all along that Favre doesn't like either McCarthy or Thompson because they have strangled all the fun out of the game for Brett. It would seem that my theory could be the bare naked truth after all.

I don't know why people are attacking Favre here. The media (this site included) is guilty of continuing to throw logs on the fire. Every move that guy makes (or doesn't make, in some cases...golf anyone?) is criticized.

Just because Favre isn't jumping into some other job immediately doesn't mean he is coming back...it just means he's probably enjoying himself. I don't know how involved the retirement papers are, but I would imagine that for some stupid documents for which there is no time-line for completion, you'd put it off as long as you could because...why not?

I think Cook wants to get paid. And for the "Favre Sucks" posters, get a life and move out of Mommy's basement. The guy is a HOF and one of the best to ever play the game...same with Jerry Rice, Montana, etc. They are icons of the league.

Favre is cemented as a celebrity and legend in this game. The best thing for him financially, long-term, is to stay retired.

I think he still had a year or two left, but it's better to walk away a year too early than to limp away a year too late.

Bus Cook was a personal injury attorney before favre decided to make him his agent coming out of Southern Miss. So for all intents and purposes, Cook owes his entire career as sports agent to BF. How does he thank the man? By stirring up as much bullshit as possible in an attempt to get his cut of another year or two of the guy's salary. How shocking. Have you seen this guy's stable? McNair's retired, and Brett's retired; now he has Randy Moss who's playing for well short of what he's worth... Michael Turner who's playing for way MORE than he's worth...Cutler, Adalius Thomas, and a bunch of veritable no-names. I can't imagine why he'd want to milk Favre for all he's worth...

Hey 40four60, You are so right about the Packers sucking...They were the youngest team in the NFL last season (even with old Favre) with a terrible record of 13-3 and won the NFC north, only to lose the NFC Championship game to the eventual Superbowl Champs...they really suck! and Favre sucks??? I'm glad you said it because it further proves how little you seem to know about football and what it takes to be good or great.

Go Packers.

I response to the above comments from a Bares fan:

The whole toiled hole of Chicago was happy when Favre retired. Yeah, they may have gotten the best of him the past couple of years, but no the first 15. But then I guess I would be bitter too if I had 30 different QBs in the past 5 years and still have to watch Grossman.

Maybe that is why Favre retired... it just wasn't fun flushing the toilets in Wisconsin so that Illinois could get some fresh water.

i am begging you. PLEASE stop with these stupid posts. All the Favre coverage has made me sick. And I still have to put up with it on Monday Night Football when the season begins. I don't want to hear his name again until:

1) Favre himself says "I'm coming back"
2) Five years from now at Canton
3) while watching Aaron Rodgers struggle and the Packer fans start chanting Favre.

Please PFT, no more Favre

Maybe Lord Farve is taking a wait and see approach. Waiting to see how badly the Packers may or may not suffer in his "loss". If they're terrible maybe he comes back to guide them to the playoffs or something. If they're good, he'll stay home.

If this is true, that is why I hate agents. If he really wants to retire then let him. Just let the guy alone. Favre has been somewhat outspoken in the past few years and I am sure if he wanted to play he would tell them and show up and force the Packer's hand in someway or another.

I think reporting things like this just plays into Bus Cook's hands and, in his hopes, his back pocket.

"If Favre would decide to play, his options would be to play for the Packers or no one."

Thank God for that. Rodgers, here's to the giant, ever-present shadow that you'll play the rest of your career in. Somebody shove a stake in Count Farvula's heart already.
