That thump you hear in the distance is that of Pats defensive back Willie Andrews hitting the waiver wire.
Andrews has been arrested again, for the second time since Super Bowl XLII. This time around, he faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon.
He allegedly pointed a gun at his girlfriend’s head after she accused him of cheating on her.
The incident occurred on Sunday, and the woman called 911. When police arrived, Andrews had no gun. He allowed them to search his car, and they found no gun.
Though it might not be enough to save his gig with the Pats, those facts smell a lot like reasonable doubt to us.
The Patriots were one of just a handful of teams to make it unscathed through the first year of our Turd Watch game. This time around, they’re in contention for the kind of trophy that they surely don’t want to win.

Wait! Wha? She thinks that he is cheating on her so HE pulls the gun?! Isn’t that supposed to go the other way around? I mean, like the old song Frankie and Johnny?
OTOH, if my GF confronted me with that accusation, I’d be tempted to pull a gun - for self defense. Seriously, anyone who pisses THAT woman off is likely to have their arm ripped off and end up beaten to death with it. Of course, if I had Willie’s speed, I’d use it to just run away. She’s deadly strong, but she ain’t very fast - 5.15 forty, tops.

Why would the Pats get rid of this guy? He’s only been accused of a crime by an obviously disgruntled girlfriend. The Pats didn’t get rid of a coach who not only was accused but was actually found guilty of cheating. Oh wait, I forgot, this is the Pats, they and their fans don’t have the decency to do the right thing. If you win and you’re important to the team, it doesn’t matter what you do. If you’re not important to the team, all you have to be is accused of wrongdoing and you’re gone.

Too bad, I always liked him and he is a good special teamer, but it seems at this point that his production is not worth the trouble he is causing. Then again this could turn out to be nothing other than an angry girlfriend….it wouldn’t be the first time.

Other than the Kaczur who willingly helped the feds get the dealer he was buying legal-with-a-prescription drugs from, and Faulk with pot in his pocket before taking and passing a drug test… what has a Patriot been arrested for?
I’m not saying they’re Saints (no pun intended) but I think it’s probably an exaggeration to be saying they’re going for the trophy.
Even with this, they’re in 5th, and that’s assuming they don’t cut him within 7 days. They currently have 14 DBs on the roster…
