Yes Welker should have kept his mouth shut but NE is a shrewder judge of talent than most other teams and he is also talented.
I bet he doesnt take plays off either, unlike some other Patriot.
Without Welker the Pats dont move the chains as much.
It’s still a team game.

“Actually, I think the point is that Wes Welker should keep his mouth shut with a bunch of ringless fingers.”
Actually, the number of rings currently on Welker’s fingers is completely irrelevant. Whether or not he’s proved right is dependent on how many rings he wins (and Samuel would have won) going forward.

Without a secondary, you can’t win a superbowl. The Eagles are much more likely to win a superbowl than N.E. But, the most important article is about Joe Delaney. Amidst all the garbage that’s overplayed about the bad things players do and the greed athletes have, it is refreshing to see that there are athletes like Joe Delaney. That’s a hero. I wish I could be confident enough to know that if I saw three kids drowning, other people were around and I didn’t know how to swim, I would jump in and save at least one, knowing I would most likely die. Only by the Grace of God would I be able to. Thank you for your witness Joe!! And, thanks for this article PFT. I look forward to more articles like this!

blackglass3, so you’re saying you expect every great player to make every great play at the right time. Tell me the last time you saw Dan Marino even win a superbowl. Every player is allowed some mistakes and I highly doubt Wes Welker will win 2 superbowls. The defense is getting ready to look after all of their grandkids and Matt Light is the most over rated player in the league. Osi Umenyiora Looked the same against him as he did against Winston Justice, the blindside isn’t as great as people claim it to be. Asante Samuel is no experiment, he is one of the best corners in the league.

Really? Pretty sure last year was when they got cuaght… therefore, they did tape last season.
As for Samuel, its irrelevant if he chose money of championships since he already has TWO rings. He’s been to the top of the mountain, and if he wants to play for money to set himself and his family up for the rest of their lives… why shouldn’t he? If you’ve achieved the ultimate goal, now its time to just collect the cash for it.

So you think that the Patriots would have offered him minimum wage? He would be “set for life” regardless of where he signed. Would you rather be worth $120 million with two Super Bowl rings or $100 million with four or five? I know what answer I’d pick and it’s certainly different from Samuel’s.

The irrational mentality of Patriots-haters once again on exhibit. Apparently even the Patriots FUTURE titles are tainted too. I assume that’s a position you hold only in regards to the Patriots and not all the other teams that have broken NFL rules - that would be typical.

Tell me, what game were they caught “cheating” in? Oh yeah, the first game, against the Jets. Sorry, you’re right…
…they went 15.5-0 in the regular season, and 2-1 in the playoffs since being caught.

@csports42192 - If you honestly think Welkers only had one good season, you just haven’t been watching this guy. I hated when the Patriots went down to Miami every year because this guy simply did it all. I think at one point he was kicking field goals. Besides, i think he was just making the point that the Eagles simply aren’t that good. And the Patriots obviously are. Both are point which nobody can really dispute.

As long as Belicheat is the coach, everything they do will be tainted. You have to be ridiculously naive to think that he will stop cheating just because he got caught. It’s not as if he was punished at all, and he can rely on Goodell to cover up the worst of it. I see you stick to the Cheatriots apologists mantra “Wah Wah, everybody does it, we just got caught” ..Surprised you didn’t throw in the part about “It didn’t really help” ..haha

That sentence refers to other teams, including your Dolphins, who have broken NFL rules - not other teams that may or may not have also been taping signals. Try reading for comprehension.

No, it’s irrational because your conspiracy theories and assumptions lack reasoning and a factual basis - it has nothing to do with anyone being a supposed “apologist.”

Hadley, want to know why people don’t like Pats fans? Aside from jumping on the wagon.
“Apparently even the Patriots FUTURE titles are tainted too.”
The Patriots just choked away a SB to a wild card team and you come here claiming future titles as if it’s a foregone conclusion that the Pats are going to win year after year.
Wes Welker can think he’ll win some trophies with new England, but as of yet he hasn’t won anything and him talking as if he did makes him out
to be pompous idiot. But maybe with fans like you, that’s pretty fitting.

“The Eagles gave the whole league the blueprint to stop Brady and Moss.”
Yeeeah. Brady threw for almost 400 yards with 0 INTs, and while Moss had an off-day by his standards, 337 of those passing yards went to other guys including Whitey Welker, who had a career day catching 13 for 149 yards against thin air coverage. So I guess the “blueprint” that the Eagles provided consisted of “sit McGagg on the bench for the entire game, and on D send everybody to cover Moss and forget about everyone else”. Brilliant.
