Ricky Williams spent some time at a Heisman Winners Association gathering talking about how he feels he’s got four years left as a NFL running back.
Williams told the Associated Press that despite a love of metaphysical books he’s “not a UFO guy.” He insists that his limited gridiron action over the past four years has kept his body from accumulating too much wear and tear and will translate to success on the field this season. It’s also given him a new insight into himself, which has led to a renewed desire to leave behind a better NFL legacy than that of a pothead who squandered considerable talent.
“It was never something I thought about until it turned into a negative legacy. Now it’s my responsibility to make the life of my family and my children better [by] leaving the game on a positive note . . . I think people need to know I’m dependable.”
When he’s secured that legacy, Williams plans to pursue a career as an osteopathic physician specializing in holistic medicine.
