An attorney representing the ex-girlfriend of Brandon Marshall says the Broncos wide receiver is lying when he claims that his March arrest was part of a “shakedown” attempt.

“His story that he has been a victim is as pathetic as the story that he slipped on a McDonald’s bag and injured his arm,” said David McGill, a lawyer for Marshall’s ex-girlfriend Rasheedah Watley.  ”Hopefully, he will be as eager to tell his story in a court of law, under oath, as he has been in the media.”

Marshall was arrested on March 6 because, an Atlanta Police Department report says, Watley told police Marshall “threw her on the bed, grasped her head with his hand and began to slap her.”  Marshall says the only physical altercation was when Watley’s sisters attacked him, and that Watley is trying to get money from him.

McGill said, “We have plenty of evidence to corroborate the history of physical abuse.”

Marshall also faced domestic violence charges in an incident involving Watley in March 2007. Those charges were later dismissed.

UPDATE:  Taco Bill has eyeballed a Denver-area billboard aimed at propping up Marshall’s poor public image.
