Former Seahawks and Ravens defensive end Michael McCrary has been awarded $33 million after suing his former business partners for fraud involving a condominium project in New Orleans.

The Baltimore Sun reports that a judge awarded McCrary $16 million in compensatory damages, $15 million in punitive damages and $2 million in interest.

The lawsuit focused on a 45-story office building that McCrary and two other men purchased with the intent of converting into condos. After the building was damaged in Hurricane Katrina, McCrary’s business partners collected $12 million in insurance money and then told McCray that the insurance claim was denied. They then sold the building and gave McCrary less money from the sale than he had originally invested.

It is not clear whether McCrary will collect any of the $33 million. The defendants didn’t even show up for the trial, and the ex-wife of one of the defendants said he’s planning to leave the country.
