Though, by all appearances, the Detroit Lions did not know about the pre-draft arrest of linebacker Jordon Dizon for DUI, the Lions cannot credibly claim that they had no knowledge regarding the July 2007 arrest of first-round pick Gosder Cherilus, an offensive tackle from Boston College.
The incident was reported on July 6, not long after it occurred.
And so both the Lions and the Chargers will earn 10 point in “Turd Watch II,” given that each player was selected despite a pending misdemeanor charge of assault and battery and a felony charge of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
This gives the Lions the overall lead with 30 points. The Titans are in second place with 25, and the Eagles and Broncos are tied for third with 22.
For the Chargers, it’s their first 10 points of the year. Only six teams have zero points, and we’re less than five months into the Turd Watch year. The teams with no points are the Redskins, Cowboys, Chiefs, Rams, Buccaneers, and Ravens.
Last year, four teams emerged with no points — the Patriots, Cowboys, Eagles, and Lions.
Ironically, the Cowboys (who have rolled out the welcome mat for guys like Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones) are the only franchise with no criminal incidents since we started tracking arrests and convictions in February 2007.
So, obviously, teams continue to embrace players who have had trouble with the law, still drafting them as high as round one. Absent meaningful consequences when teams take such risks, and when such risks blow up in their faces, teams will continue to regard football talent as far more important than off-field conduct.

How do the Eagles have 22 points and Dalls not have any? To say it’s about arrest than, How you gonna add points for Ikegwuonu, but not for Pacman? To say that Pacmans arrest happened on another team, well so did Ikegwuonu. To say that Ikegwuonu’s case is still pending, so is Pacmans reinstatement into the NFL.
I don’t care that the Eagles have 22 points. If that is how you based your points. But to not give the Cowboys points shows that the system is flawed.
Mike Florio, I have respect for you because of your football knowledge, and I think you put together one hell of a site. But this system is flawed and you need to fix it.

I agree TRomo the eagles seem to think that there team is Gods gift to the NFL because they have a Donovan McHurtalot as Qb who is now a hasbeen and that they have had a movie made after a former player of their team Vince Papolli. The Eagles need to take a reality check and relize that they have never won a superbowl and are never going to win one.

SportsBum,
Did you even bother to read the TurdWatch page???
If a team drafts a player AFTER they’ve been arrested, then they get points. The reason being that the team should know better than to draft a “troublemaker” and they did it anyhow.
Same thing with free agents. If Shawn Alexander gets arrested tomorrow, and then a team signs him, that team gets the point. Since you are a complete idiot, who doesn’t bother to learn to rules, and just bitches instead, I vote you get 457,000 turd points for wasting my time explaining it to you, nimrod.

You obviously know nothing about the scoring of turd watch. At least read the rules before you run your fat mouth. You’re just a visiting gnat here. So unless you have something intelligent to say, stay off the boards son.

The Eagles should get 20 points for having dumb fans. It’s real simple, lowbrows…
Mike Patterson was arrested and charged with three crimes. Misdemeanor marijuana possession, driving while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and careless driving: likely to endager a person. He was convicted of the “careless driving: likely to endager a person” charge. Three points for each charge, plus three for the conviction equals 12 points. The Eagles drafted Jack Ikegwuono with pending charges so they get the turd points for one felony charge of residential burglary (7 points) and one misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass (3). 10 points total.
12+10=22. You don’t have to like it, but you do have to learn to live with it because it works the same way for every team.

“What did the Pack do?! And where can we find out how these points are calculated?”
Nick Barnett pled no contest to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in March.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/turd-watch/
The scoring system is simple. Seven points for a felony arrest, and seven for a conviction. Three points for a misdemeanor arrest, and three more for a conviction. If there are multiple charges, the points will stack.
For the purposes of the Turd Watch II scoring, a conviction includes a guilty plea, a plea of no contest, and the entry into a diversion program.
However, if the team cuts the player (or fires the employee) within seven days after an arrest, the points will be removed.

The typical over-reaction by the Cowboy fans (most of whom are pretending frauds) bores me. For some reason, they seem to feel better about themselves when they bash the team from the town where are from while glorifying the Mecca of Frauds, Dallas. Pathetic at best. As far as this issue is concerned, lets all appluad the Turd Herder himself, Jerruh Jones simply because his collection of high character guys haven’t broken any laws yet. As a wise man once said, “if walks like a rat and smells like a rat, then by golly it must be a rat!” Don’t kid yourself, people don’t change. Hear me now and believe me later.

Turd Watch points are retarded, and so is Florio for coming up with a system that charges people for crimes they haven’t even been convicted of.
Mike Patterson getting 12 pts for what is ultimately a misdemeanor careless driving conviction, while the Cowboys have 0 points after landing 2 of the biggest turds in the league in Pacman and Tank? How f’n retarded.
It’s a good thing that this stupid, idiotic system only matters on this website. The rest of the world is smart enough to understand that Dallas has always been and always will be a Turd Ranch.
Michael Irvin, Nate Newton, Leon Lett, and Pacman Jones are all in a car together, who’s driving?

Hey Cowgirlsmitty9! The Eagles are filled with hasbeens and wannabees huh? You talk about our QB, but what has your QB Tony Homo done besides blow your teams playoff games. Your team can’t even win a playoff game. They won the division 1 time, only been to the playoffs 3 times and still hasn’t won a playoff game since 2000. The Eagles been to the playoffs 6 times, won the division 5 times, been to the NFC Championship 4 times, and have been to the Superbowl. Not to mention we won our last 3 games of last season, including shutting down your Cowboys in Dallas. So if the Eagles is full of hasbeens and wannabes, the Cowboys are alot worse. And if McNabb does stay healthy, you can say goodbye to the Cowgirls winning the division or going anywhere in the playoffs.

Sportsbum you know that your team is full of crap players now(with a few exeptions) and you are looking for some way to vent your anger because the Eagles chance to win a superbowl is come and gone. They blew it and you know it. Donovan McHurtalot is a Hasbeen that is past his prime and the eagles are defenitly not going to the superbowl again with him. With all respect to Andy Reid though, he is a good coach and a good man and as long as the eagles have him they still have a chance(After some major rebuilding of the team is done though). Lets face it though sportsbum you and I both know that the eagles are past their prime and that the Cowboys are doing great once again so why don’t you shut up and enjoy the ride of watching the cowboys do great things(like winning the SuperBowl).

First, love that quote thing - so forceful. Second, what’s with your fixation on the Philadelphia Eagles? Could it be that you are yet another member of Fraud Nation? I get a strong vibe that you live somewhere in or near Philadelphia but pretend like you are from Dallas for your football team. Am I right? Otherwise, why would someone from Dallas get worked up so much about Philadelphia?
Finally, interesting choice with your car joke. Once again, for some reason you feel the need to hate on Philadelphia. So it appears you would feel much safer at the wheel with either a gun-wielding cocaine abuser, a morbidly obese felony drug smuggler, a mentally challenged drug abuser, and Pacman Jones (no further description necessary) over the Philadelphia player who I believe was arrested for a misdemeanor pot possesion? Sounds like smart move to me - hope you have health insurance.

Cowgirl, Doing great? How? I’ll give them some credit for reaching the playoffs the past 2 years and having the record they had last year. But doing great? NO, you need to win playoff games to be considered great. The Eagles past their prime? They are 1 year removed from the playoffs, so you’re able to judge that they’re past their prime in 1 year. You’re an idiot, and I’m not venting, I’m stating facts. The Cowgirls have done nothing to prove to me that they’re better than the Eagles with a healthy McNabb. Here are the position matchups.
QB - Eagles (Romo needs to prove he can play good under pressure)
RB - Eagles
FB - Cowboys (pretty much useless position)
WR - Cowboys
TE - Cowboys
OL - Eagles
DL - Eagles
LB - Cowboys
DB - Eagles
ST - Eagles
Coaches - Eagles

Grulk, I didn’t argue the reason he gave the Eagles points. All I said is the system is flawed. Case in point, A team will get turd points for drafting a player after they got arrested, but a team doesn’t get points after signing a player after they been arrested?(Cowboys). The system is flawed.

“an obvious Dungy loving Gruden hater. My suggestion; move to Indy where you can kiss Dungy’s black azz all day and night. Thank you.”
Your wording indicates this is as close to a racial slur as you think you can get away with. I have no love for Dungy; I can’t stand Gruden - so your half a$$ed comment is 1/2 right. I’m sick of “One and done” or “none and done” Gruden and his “boy genius Tampa Bay ineffective offense” that is everything but OFFENSIVE. Defensive scores won a lot of games the Super Bowl year, points the “vaunted Tampa Bay offense” can’t do with out as they’ve proved every season since.
“You obviously know nothing about the scoring of turd watch. At least read the rules before you run your fat mouth. You’re just a visiting gnat here. So unless you have something intelligent to say, stay off the boards son.”
Intelligent analysis of your sophomoric comment indicates it was spoken like a true Gruden lover with his blinders on and his head up his “4th point of contact”. Yet another Tampa Bay “goober” they’re always talking about on the radio that thinks the Bucs and Gruden can do no wrong no matter what bull$pit they decide to pull or lies they decide to tell.
Pittman the former “resident wife beater” is gone, so was Stevens. Now the “turd” that is Jeremy Stevens is back in the Bucs fold, nestled up on the pile with the two top “turds” Allen and Gruden.
“Ignorant” and “racist” are the two word that immediately came to mind while reading the drivel you tried to pass off as a contribution to this forum.
