Earlier this week, it was reported for the first time that Lions second-round pick Jordon Dizon had been arrested six days before the draft.
Now, it’s being disclosed (possibly for the first time) that Lions first-rounder Gosder Cherilus had been in trouble as well.
Cherilus was sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to pay $52,000 in medical expenses arising from an incident from July 2007 at a bar. Cherilus and Boston College teammate DeJuan Tribble were celebrating the 23rd birthday of Cherilus with other Eagles players, when they intervened in a fight between two men who weren’t in their group.
Cherilus and Tribble allegedly roughed one of the men up, under the guise of breaking up the fight. They were both charged with one count of assault and battery, and one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
The charges will be dismissed if they abide by the pre-trial order and stay out of trouble for a year.
Tribble was a sixth-round pick of the Chargers.

This didn’t ‘come to light’. Ghosder was on Sirius before the draft and was asked about it and replied candidly and honestly about it.
