As we continue to look for stories to fill the only real sssssslow period on the NFL calendar, a reader has pointed out to us video of a supposed 110-yard field goal from Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham.
The video is right here.
Obviously, the thing was doctored in some way, like the commercials featuring Neil Rackers banking footballs off the goal post and Mike Vick throwing the football out of the stadium and LeBron James sinking balls from the other end of the court with fairly normal jump-shot form. Even if someone other than a Disney donkey can kick a ball that far, it sure as hell wouldn’t happen with a two-step approach.
The weird thing here is that WUSA-TV is peddling the video of Suisham’s kick as legitimate. And if they intend it to be a joke, it sure doesn’t come off that way.

video looks incredibly doctored. Notice the ball seems to float a little bit when it reaches the top of the arch. If it’s not doctored, I’d like to see the ball he kicked, it just doesn’t look like your average run of the mill kicker’s ball. Although, maybe rather then fielding an actual offense this year, this might be the Redskin’s plan.

Wow! It must be the slow period. Hyping a video that you know is doctored.

It’s probably part of the Gatorade viral marketing campaign that came up with the video of the AAA ball girl catching a foul ball by jumping off two walls in the outfield.
Two things are for sure: It’s phony, and it’s from Gatorade.

It’s being aired as an advertisement for the “Redskins Tailgate” show’s season premiere on channel 9 here in Redskins Country. If taken in context it’s obviously an advertisement, and not expected to be thought of as real.

Wow, I was at least expecting him to really crank his leg, but he looked like he was just kicking a 35 yarder.
My favorite are the Mike Vick ones where he knocks the receivers over, etc.

So how come he can’t kick it to the end zone on a kick off?

It looks semi-real but I’d hate for Brett Haber to be involved in such a scandal. A gatorade tank isn’t in the frame nor does it have the nfl fantasy watermark. I don’t know what to think but as long as he can kick it over the cowgirls heads he’ll be fine.

Jim Thorpe could supposedly kick a 100 yard field goal…
The vid is obviously fake. Just look at his wind up.

There is no arching pattern to the kick. If it is intended to be real, they should take a physics class.

It’s not sitting on the typical “block” that a field goal would be kicked from. Instead it looks like it’s sitting on a normal kickoff-tee. I still think it’s fake.

I was actually more impressed that you can drop a bowling ball on a granite countertop and it won’t break. Those were advertising dollars very well spent…
As for the kick…
Somewhere in the great beyond, Gus the Kicking Mule is pissed.

You mean somethings that you see on the internet aren’t true?! Next thing you know someone’s going to tell me that Terry Bradshaw is still alive.

I was actually there when he was doing this. And it is a real video. He’s been takin steroid injections in his quads and hams, and now has the force to kick a ball even further than that. The one before it that prompted him to kick this fieldgoal was actually longer than 110 yards, cuz he was standing out in the parking lot.

and he knocked a few trees down while driving it through the parkin lot. It’s obviously on the other side of the trees so you can’t see it. (that’s for all those dummies that couldn’t figure that one out)

Last year year when I was at the Giants @ Redskins game at Fedex Field there was a guy wearing a Suisham shirt trying to harrass me. Funny thing is that he had written Suisham on his shirt in black permanent marker. On a black shirt.

@VA_R8DER - you have an interesting point. It was always my opinion that instead of carrying an extra tight end or fullback you never use. Why not carry an extra kicker specifically for kickoffs. There has to be 32 people in the world that can kick a ball out of the end zone on every kickoff.
