It’s official: It’ll be awkward at the Coughlin residence for Thanksgiving dinner.
With the head of the household making only (only?) $5.25 million per year, his son-in-law is now raking in a whopping $6.875 million annually.
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Giants guard Chris Snee’s new deal is worth six years, and has a base value of $41.25 million in new money.
The deal also includes $17 million in guaranteed money. The signing bonus is $13.5 million.
He’ll make $23 million over three years, and can pick up an extra $2.25 million in incentives.

Awkward? Practically speaking part of that money (half) will belong to or be under the control of Coughlin’s daughter. So Tom will probably be ok with it.

But who’s contract is guaranteed, and who is likely to have the longer career?
Besides, as “cantgetenough” said: “Awkward? Practically speaking part of that money (half) will belong to or be under the control of Coughlin’s daughter. So Tom will probably be ok with it.”
Add to that the fact that Coughlin’s daughter will stand to inherit money from pops when he kicks it, then Snee ends up with his hands on even more mula!
Top all of that off with the fact that as a father I want my daughters to marry someone who makes more than I do regardless of how much I make (and I do pretty good myself). I can’t support them forever - but I will until they are old enough to marry someone else to take over (not some lousy, dirbag, homeless person). I am sure Coughlin feels the same…

Are you nuts?
It’ll be high fives all around.
A year ago it didn’t look like Coughlin was in line for a big payday.

Good for him.Well deserved, I think he can become one of the better guards in the NFL. It can’t be easy being the son in law of a head coach who previously was not exactly enamored by his players. He must have heard alot of stuff about Tom. Congratulations to the Giants fans, the shock is starting to subside with the start of the season.

I say he deserves every penny for having to deal with Coughlin at every holiday on top of everyday at work.

I think that is the same amount of money Florio lost on the superbowl.

Hopefully the payday doesn’t make Snee complacent. He has the talent to be a pro-bowl guard and with Kareem McKenzie next to him the right side of the line allowed the Giants to pound the ball for over 5 yards a carry.

Wow I’d like to have that kind of “awkwardness” at my family dinners.
“I can’t believe you how much money you make!”
“No, I can’t believe how much money YOU make.”
“NO, I CAN’T BELIEVE how much money YOU MAKE!”
Sounds real tough.
